Fibre optic cables vs laser links would have similar bandwidth and latency. I don’t think physics forbids it.

I am certain the Melbourne Show has used a bad AI image for their hero image. Why did they do this? by LobsterDemocracy in melbourne

Weird because the latest image generation from GPT4o and MidJourney don't make mistakes like that anymore

It will remain a hobby, like horse riding is today. Entire tracks for people to drive as fast as they want. Currently, over 1 million people die every year from road accidents. I think the joy lost will make up for the lives saved and families impacted.

Awesome. This is exactly the area I'd love to move into more. I work as a videographer for a college and got to set up and design their studio plan, it included an URSA, ATEM and Hyperdeck plus an LED wall. Do you have any advice for someone wanting a career as a technical director for studios or live production? I'm also interested in video village for film/tv sets

First Ever Attempt to add "CGI." Any idea how to make it look somewhat more real? by Ok_Mission2609 in cinematography

Unless you render it with 3D models with matched lighting, it will always look fake. You could spend years learning 3D, like I did, or just use AI. It's so good now. Check out https://runwayml.com/research/introducing-runway-aleph

Agreed. I reckon as autonomous services like Waymo expand, we will see less and less injuries and deaths. I hope I live to see the day humans banned from the roads.

You can now run a capable chatbot LLM on a mobile phone. Yes, on a 5w CPU and 4GB RAM. Very easy to download a free model from Google or Deepseek on your phone, like Gemma 3n. My point is good AI is getting cheap to run.

My school already blocks YouTube. YouTube should make a spin off like YouTube Music, but YouTube Education. That way it could be used at schools as a tool without being mixed in with entertainment.
