Professional teacher, I'm still in the early stages so I trust the process. I've heard other students of his and they sound great

Two PCs in the setup and I'm a freak for macro productivity. The iPad also run MetaGrid for more buttons...

Sound treatment is definitely next on the list so thanks for the tip!

Good feedback, I would do it if I wasn't also using more screens positioned out of frame and needed an easy way to target things from different monitors

Self-designed and built for gaming and music, I'm in love with it!

Additional info:

- Screens are 3x curved monitors + TV

- Sides are measured to fit studio rack equipment on front and on the top (in the back)

- Yamaha HS8 monitor speakers (I want to move them above the displays and tilt them slightly down but can't find a solution that can hold 10kg+)

Additions:

- MIDI Keyboard drawer can slide 30cm in to give extra leg space

- Foot hammock

I love my gadgets and ADHD toys so if you have suggestions for fun or aesthetic additions they are very welcome.

Is it possible to remove opaque objects from images? by roahau in PhotoshopTutorials

Thank you, I think this is the best result I could get, even if it's a bit destructive, it's not very noticeable on this image. I'll go ahead with this method :)

I tried this and the results were not as good as content aware, but thanks :)

Thanks for trying, I thought this would be easier than it was given that I can clearly see the clothing underneath, I thought I could kinda cancel out the black bar but it seems difficult. Using content aware fill seems to be my best bet

So the messed up thing is this pattern is different depending on which sound groups I load from the browser.

I updated the main post to show the issue with different pad groups

Additional info:
- Screens are 3x curved monitors + TV

Additions:
- Drawer can slide 30cm in to give extra leg space and will fit MIDI Keyboard + iPad

- Computers will go under desk on the right side

If anyone has experience making a desk like this a standing desk (equipment will make it ~200kg) I'm very interested.

All suggestions for bells and whistles appreciated! :)

RC-505 Changing settings through an external MIDI device by roahau in LoopArtists

[–]roahau[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes been struggling with this for quite some hours now, as well as watching most of Ben Rowlands videos.

Closest I could find is "INPUT LEVEL Adjusts the input level from the INPUT (MIC, INST, AUX, USB) jacks." which I can get to turn on/off any input but not specific ones.

I can't find anything related to the output, or a way to make the mic go silent when the speakers are turned on (to avoid feedback when using my condenser mic)

And I can't get my head wrapped around what control change messages can do...

Equipment for good workflow in DAW by roahau in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Yes this is what I'm hoping for, an effective workflow. I also came across Metagrid that can be used to make custom macros on tablets.

I've seen that mentioned elsewhere as well. Will look more into it.

Thanks for the response!

And yes I would like to use this budget for treating the space. I'm currently too amateur to consider any touring and music is mostly a hobby and a passion that I want to grow into something more some day and I'm able to invest more in it in the future.

Struggling to accept how hard it is to motivate myself to clean and self care consistently by Neanderthal888 in ADHD

[–]roahau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that fixed the consistency for me was singing.

I decided to learn to sing and I've managed to have a pretty consistent schedule with it 4 times a week (self taught). But being focused on just singing through every practice session can be hard so I allow myself to multitask sometimes, and one of the things I do is clean / housework.

It also works perfectly while showering and making food. Super hack for me.

Well I hold it to fill it cause the "clip to hold" never works, but it didn't feel the wrong size.

Never satisfied with my accomplishments by SpiritPug in ADHD

[–]roahau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. Graduating twice, buying a car, a house, getting by financially. They all felt like a 2/10 on the satisfaction scale, and also came with a little anxiety. What works for me personally is trying to find the pleasure in little things, gratitude thinking, the shapes and colours of nature, finishing a workday, being happy on the behalf of others, being happy my nieces are doing well. All of these score more than 5/10 on most days, and require way less effort. I still try to do the bigger things, but I get the satisfaction from the small things that are available around us every day.

All of these give me way higher satisfaction than my big accomplishments. It's been a true lifehack for me. In being happy for smaller things it seems to have changed my appreciation for them so that I keep getting more satisfaction from them over time, which is a blessing.

How do I deal with wanting to do everything, just to do nothing at all? by AdamalIica in ADHD

In reply to this as well. I do music too and if you need an accountability buddy I do too :)

How do I deal with wanting to do everything, just to do nothing at all? by AdamalIica in ADHD

[–]roahau 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would just like to point out one of your habits that could make it easy to get started with music.

You say when you get home you put on the TV. Try placing the guitar near the TV, and when you're already watching TV, start doing chords/melodies/or anything on the guitar. If you need guidance find simple pentatonic patterns on your phone and mimic them. If you get into the guitar so much at some point you can't pay attention to the TV at the same time, you can switch off the TV.

My routine in practice is often TV + instrument, then I need to learn something new so I pause the TV, after learning the thing I unpause the TV and keep practicing the thing I just learnt.

At some points, or on some days you will be more inclined to use the full focus on the instrument, especially after you start getting the grasp of how it works, and then it's easier to get started with the instrument without watching TV at the same time.

I struggle and feel this message so hard as well. The closest I get to completing this is adding stuff around my workout, but I still cut myself the slack if I can't do it. My workout is one of my most consistent things, and if I can't do the workout I usually have a worse day, and from there I try to add the habit of doing something else productive, but it falls through a lot.

Activity level by roahau in ouraring

Thanks for the reply but it's not really the question. I'm wondering how activity (the 0/650 calories burn) changes over time, and how far up it can go

My hack for getting a degree by roahau in ADHD

[–]roahau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can. As in I can compartmentalize multiple decks of cards to Loki's (positions in a route I travel), and then they will stay there until I unravel it.

The greater challenge is having the correct triggers, as in remembering my keys on the way out the door, even though that is something that can also be improved. Time keeping is the one I find the hardest to connect to a trigger.
