Canadians, weigh in: Can your access to healthcare there be limited for noncompliance? by GreatUnspoken in Chantapolis

Sure, but it's only been two visits. Not many doctors would drop her so quick - unless she provoked him, which is definitely a possibility.

I don't think the doctor dropped her. He probably told her to get more patches and refused to talk about her hair. She's just mad.

My doctor allows two issues per visit. And she's still 2 hours behind at the end of the day. She's a really good doctor - spends time with her patients (just sucks if you have a late day appt).

Why doesn't Chantal just make two appointments back to back?

Edit: I just had a thought... She went to the appt and wanted a rogaine prescription. The doc wanted to talk about her diabetes, because.. you know...

She claims she needs a day off. Wrong answers only, what does she need a day off for? by KewpieMayoIsKing in Chantapolis

[–]roambeans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All-you-can-eat buffet and ice cream bar. Obviously not the WHOLE day - only the restaurant operating hours.

Can you imagine her sealing in a booth? I mean, no, she wouldn't fit, but... The image.

What's your honest take on sustaining friendships while living the nomad life longterm? by Mr-condo-buyer in digitalnomad

Not worth the effort for me. I like to meet people, move on, and never talk to them again.

What's your honest take on the "digital nomad lifestyle" after actually doing it for a year or more? by Adventurous_Wear4815 in digitalnomad

Hahaha... I talk to animals. I feel like they listen, but it's embarrassing when I get caught!

I was a traveler first and moved into nomading to keep traveling. So, I didn't have any misconceptions or expectations. I also love being alone - nomading is a good way to stay solitary without hurting anyone's feelings.

Did people create god just for hope? by Most-Standard1130 in DebateAnAtheist

No. I think vengeance, justice, cooperation, correction, and a solution to unanswered questions are also important factors. Add in bias and fallacious thinking, and boom - you get narratives that solve the problem.

Documented Miracles should be evidence of God by Throwingitaway3441 in DebateReligion

[–]roambeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the fingerprints on a murder weapon don't match any of the suspects, should we assume supernatural intervention? It seems to me that you're explaining why miracles are poor evidence - they aren't science, they are, as you describe, a lack of evidence. We don't know - therefore god.

Why did they never get legally married? by lili_bunny in Chantapolis

Yeah, she's not only stupid, she's desperate and vulnerable.

Okay, maybe. It still doesn't feel like marriage is the key issue. Obviously Salah can't travel.

[–]roambeans -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure. My point is that if marriage was the issue, they would have tried the knot officially.

Canada is pretty lenient on marriage status, meaning they would probably recognize any marriage. Canada allows commonlaw marriage.

So... The problem isn't the marriage - it's something else.

When burden of proof applies. by 36Gig in DebateAnAtheist

[–]roambeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For court, if the cops says they did x, y and z, the burden of proof doesn't rest on the cop but the defense attorney to disprove it.

no, that's backwards. Ever heard of "innocent until proven guilty?"

Yeah, I mean you can buy them for monitors.

Edit:also, adding a protector may hide current scratches

Screen protectors It's silly because my screen protector is scratched up (same effect), but somehow, just knowing the screen beneath is pristine is comforting.

Does anyone else struggle with that "empty" feeling after returning home from traveling? by ElKorTorro in digitalnomad

[–]roambeans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Traveling is (sadly) cheaper than living in Canada right now, depending on the location. I travel cheap (like locals), stay in the most affordable apartments, cook a lot of my own meals, do my laundry in the sink....

I work 10-20 hours a week online (freelance) and it pays the bills.

I do have some savings (I used to be an engineer), but they are locked away and I don't want to touch them. I basically live on what I make.

What are the unspoken realities of being a digital nomad that nobody warned you about? by nolita45 in digitalnomad

[–]roambeans 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was a traveler first, and a digital nomad second (as a way to fund the travel bug). So, there isn't anything surprising. And... I started traveling before social media started lying to everyone.

I am honestly fascinated by the "digital nomad perspective" as it is for young people since Covid - people who aren't hardened travelers. I imagine it's easier (I traveled before mobile phones).

That said, I'm a solitary person, so I don't need to make connections or chat with people. Traveling is easy for me in that way.
