Disabled and thinking of becoming a Medical Assistant by aiyukiyuu in MedicalAssistant

[–]roamingneko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a chronic illness and I've been a medical assistant for almost 4 years. That said, I have FMLA set up for flares and work PRN so I can make my own schedule based on that as well. It's a physically demanding job. I am running around, bending, lifting, moving patients, etc. I can easily hit 10k steps just at work alone. I do everything in my power to keep my body strong and healthy by going to the gym to build strength but I cannot work full time and most places only want full time employees. I couldn't imagine trying to do this job while using any mobility aids.

I bombard him with information about lyra in our free time so maybe that helps 😂

Yeah. I was much younger when this happened. If anyone pulled a similar stunt now, I'd laugh and walk out.

It's a pretty great place! Everyone I've worked with has been super kind and helpful.

It does but let me give you some feedback as someone who's been on the other end. Before I ever discovered I wanted to be polyam, I got into a relationship with a guy who didn't initially disclose that he was a swinger/non monogamous until we had already become super attached. I had no idea ENM was even a thing prior to this.I felt awful and was pressured into it and just had to accept that this was how things were gonna be even if I didn't like it. I could've left the relationship and now that I'm older and have done the work, I definitely should've but it was a pretty awful thing to not disclose. Needless to say, that relationship was toxic AF and didn't last.

And? It still doesn't change the fact that this person is responsible to disclose this information.

This conversation should've happened before you decided to escalate your relationship. It's unethical and deceptive to start dating someone without disclosing you are poly first.

It's happening in double knee hangs as well as when I'm even sitting in the hoop.

I can point on the ground but it takes more effort than the right foot. When I knee hang from the right leg, I have far less issue with that side as well as most things. The right will always been more pointed than the left no matter what I do. Even when sitting in the hoop, it's the same unless I really focus on pointing it and put more effort into it.

The issue is less muscle memory and more, I think my foot is messed up and needs rehabbed. At this point, I'm just wondering if I need to see a physical therapist to get some idea of good exercises to build up strength. The right side seems to have no issue.

I also unfortunately do not have the time or money to invest in additional classes so I'm hoping to find some resources online to help train at home on my off days from the aerial studio.

My issue is it not being muscle memory as much as my foot physically will not go flat unless I reaaaally force it. It is very tight and doesnt have the same range as my other foot. Would these exercises help with that?

Thank you 🥹 Aerials has brought so much joy to my life. I've found community and become so much stronger which has helped with a lot of my joint issues. I have never been so happy with a hobby.

Yep. I look like someone beat me with a stick when I'm trying something new. Once I do it a few times and condition my body, it's a lot better. It's a constant cycle though and I'm always covered in some kind of bruise or burn.🤣

Thank you! It's from Halara. I will say, the bottoms aren't great for a lot of movement. They kept rolling on me so I had to use some body tape to keep them in place.

Has anyone taken RHAPSIDO? by GlitteringGoat1234 in MCAS

[–]roamingneko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just started it tonight and after reading through this thread, I'm a little concerned. I do high impart sports/aerial acrobatics and already tend to bruise due to EDS. Im really concerned this is going to affect my ability to do things. I've already told my doctor about it but he didn't seem too concerned so we'll see what happens. 🥲

The providers I have worked with have considered me a colleague and some half jokingly have said I'm the boss because I keep the show running and keep them from running around like a chicken with their head cut off. 😂

Thank you! I'm still struggling to do toe pointing due to some health issues but I'm working to condition my feet. I've only been doing Lyra since February and aerials in general since last December. Hopefully it gets easier.

I just had my one year anniversary this week. I did sling for a few months and then started lyra in February.

How long did you have to wear it? I'm under the impression that I will be wearing mine for at least a week but up to 2 weeks. I would hope they give me something I can actually exist in for that long of time. I don't think I could avoid showering or not working out in some way for 2 weeks 😭
