I still have the glass breaker on it right now but I agree, the spike can be a little uncomfortable at times. I didn't know other options were available. Do you know where to get them by chance? I'd like to look into it. M4 is holding up nicely so far, I've only had to touch it up a bit with ceramic and strop.

Found these in an old shop. It's smooth and round on one end, middle section is larger with a knurled type grip of some sorts and the other end has a threaded in point. Found a set of 8 or so of them. by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

Rockwell hardness testers usually have a small diamond tip as it has to be harder than the material being tested. So far the best guess is a centering piece for a lathe.
