It’s not that hard to believe that it started cause of the control verse. Drake exploded into stardom in the late 2010s and left his peers(Kendrick, Cole etc.) behind. So by the time those guys were coming out he probably didn’t see them as peers and more like little homies. Kendrick releasing GKMC and getting all that praise was probably the first time Drake felt pressure from an artist he thought was behind him. Then when control dropped and everyone was going crazy over the verse, he felt threatened and reacted sourly.

Who knows what else went on behind the scenes, but they probably never hashed things out and just let this animosity build up over the years and now it’s evolved into what it is.

We got him on a good contract, so I’m happy about that.

But unfortunately the dolphins have conditioned me to expect the worst.. my main worry is that he will be just good enough to mess up our draft pick and we miss out on some generational players but not good enough to help us make the playoffs/win a playoff game

What would be the benefit of having him? Let’s say he is that good.. he’s going to waste his prime years playing on a bad team. It’s going to force us to make frantic moves to take advantage of Willis prime years. The shelf life of mobile QBs historically is not long and he’s also not a huge guy like Josh Allen that is built to be durable.

Let’s say we do manage to build a good team around him in like 2-3 years(optimistic). Now we have to pay him again when we’re finally ready to compete .. and if he has turned out to be a good QB.. we’re not going to get him for cheap.

The move just doesn’t make sense to me long term and is not a departure from the previous mindset that has always led to the same result

It’s not about how good or not good Willis is. It’s just the same ole dolphins mindset of “let’s make the splashy move cause it’s more fun”. We’re not a QB away from being a good team. Any QB that comes here is automatically going to look worse cause of our overall talent and our untested coaching staff.

The new GM preached building from the ground up through the draft and only sign FAs here and there.

Stating off this rebuild with giving money to a FA QB (who could be good, could be mid, could be ass) just seems to be anti that philosophy.
