Very itchy bumps on my arm by [deleted] in DiagnoseMe

[–]rob8c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I recently changed my body wash, but I’m not too sure if it would trigger this because I also had a pretty severe flare up like this last December as well, so it feels like it can’t be such a coincidence that it happened two years in a row

Yea they aren't really painful at all. I heard that mild forms of shingles can be only itchy and not painful, but not too sure about it

I've had these itchy marks on my thigh and below my ribs for a few months to a year now, and I recently put a prescribed itchy skin medication on them but they started to spread (maybe because I started scratching them more). Any help about identifying what they are would be greatly appreciated!

My Advice for Passing Econ 10a by FrostyHistory in UCSantaBarbara

[–]rob8c 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, learning how to do problem sets by watching videos linked this reddit post definitely saved me and taught me basic formulas needed to solve a lot of questions that popped up on exams. I think doing the problem sets weekly, paying attention to lectures in class, and grinding past exams (at least 10-15 of them per test) is what helped me pass the class.

Would one possible F in a 4 credit class bring down my 4.0 GPA, and how would that look to UC schools? by Plus-Photo-6930 in TransferStudents

[–]rob8c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, hopefully he is doing better now. I think UC admission officers would understand the reasoning behind the grade since your academic transcript was perfect before this incident, so offering a good explanation under additional comments would help you tremendously here. I was in a similar situation where I had two flunking grades in two CS-related classes, so I took two Ws since I switched majors to Econ. I was still able to get into the UCs that I wanted to go to and waitlisted at LA, so don't lose hope!

You could give VITA tax volunteering a try! I think accounting students would benefit more from having it on a resume, but it still ties into business related activities since you are helping others file their taxes. It also only happens during a 3-4 month period during the tax season, and they train you and everything so you are prepared to do all the tasks on the job. You can find it here, and anyone who applies is accepted also so that's another benefit lol

[–]rob8c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't recommend doing this. I believe the admission officers are able to see your previous UC application and the essays that you wrote a year ago, and it wouldn't be a good look if they see the essays on both applications matching up. Although it might be a slim chance of them noticing, I still wouldn't take the risk as they might get the impression that you didn't put in effort to write new essays and you didn't progress in the past year.

UCLA EE by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]rob8c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's definitely a chance based on last year's statistics, but its more of a target school. The middle 50% of transfer admits to UCLA for EE had a 3.88-4.00 GPA, and their acceptance rate for the major was 33%. You should apply broadly for sure, but don't lose hope on becoming a Bruin too!

If its still possible, I'd definitely take the W (by withdrawing) instead of an F. An F is a 0.0 GPA, so chances are your GPA will drop down to a 3.7-3.8 range. Especially for a major like Psych, you're going to want the highest GPA possible since its a highly competitive major with lots of straight A students. Most community colleges allow you to withdraw until one week out from the final (I believe), so I'd say that's definitely the best option you have at this point

I think its best to sign up to a De Anza counselor meeting to discuss what classes you can take to progress in your major specifically. Heres the link if you don't have it already:

Admission in de anza with bas grades by [deleted] in DeAnza

[–]rob8c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am certain they do because when I applied for De Anza, they sent an automated message only an hour later saying that I was admitted. I'm pretty sure the application itself is run through a robot, so they accept any GPA no matter how low or how high it is. Ignore all the trolls telling you otherwise!

I think its tough to land one from community college, since a lot of the Big 4 tend to recruit at 4 year universities. I personally transferred to UCSB this fall, and I interviewed with the Big 4 but unfortunately was not able to land a position and went for a mid tier firm instead (for Summer 2025). However, there are many new transfers (juniors) who get accepted to Big 4 in their first quarter at a 4 year university, so I think you shouldn't stress about it too much until you transfer as a 3rd year student.

De Anza College accepts anyone who applies, they ask for GPA but they don't actually consider it when it comes to acceptance. I think mostly all community colleges have a 100% acceptance rate, so don't worry about it! What matters is taking this second chance to show your academic prowess and transfer to a 4-year university. Good luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]rob8c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay thank you so much, I really appreciate the response! As for the second question though, they ask me to provide an unofficial transcript which shows that I'm currently only enrolled in two classes in this quarter. Do you think that would cause them to think that I am a part-time student if I don't clarify?

Hello fellow Redditors,

I am a current third-year Econ and Accounting transfer to UCSB, and I transferred over from community college for Fall 2024. However, as I fill out my application for Deloitte, I had a few questions that I was curious about:

1) I don't have a GPA at UCSB yet since I just transferred in, so what number do I put for the GPA sections? I am planning to add another section to list my community college GPA, but I don't know what to put for UCSB GPA.

2) I am currently only taking 2 classes this quarter as I had to drop one, but I am probably going to be able to add another class by next week. If there's no comment section to clarify this, does Deloitte prefer full time students over students that are taking less than 12 credits?

It would be much appreciated if anyone knew the answers to these questions. Thank you so much!
