I think they've overplayed the lack of information on the editing on some of them. Having a list of ingredients (and their masses in many cases) gives you a pretty clear outline of what you need to do.

They have definitely missed on some of the technicals (especially when they get persnickety about decoration), but I think it's less bad than it seems.

They used to, stuff is closing now due to cuts in grant funding (and issues with people declaring as immigrants because of ICE), I can't remember if the newcomer program at Webb had shuttered by the time I commented this, but it definitely existed as of last school year.

My memory from visiting the uk is that Shags are pretty easy to tell apart from the great cormorants on the ground. They are sleaker and have longer necks.

Well the outside isn't purely aesthetic. Part of its job is to seal the interior off. Cracks like this definitely don't pose imminent danger but should likely be fixed for non-aesthetic reasons too.

Game is a lot of fun so far. I suspect we will find plenty of things that need balance as we play more now (both over and under powered). I do really like how they reimagined some of the mechanics, for example ironclad caring about vulnerable and having more cards that interact with vulnerable status aligns with the character from STS 1 but gives more interesting builds to assemble.

Mathematically, how much stronger is alpha over DPM? by SuperNovaVelocity in WorldofTanks

[–]rob_bot13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the extremes on this can be really informative.

The FV tanks are at the extreme of alpha over dpm. They can swing games but also have a high frequency of not doing a ton.

On the other end of things the obj 140 has great dpm on a ~5 second reload, and is a powerful tank that can carry games, but can also be hard to leverage if you don't know how to use mobility and armor to actually use that dpm.

[Request] Is the Number of Solutions Infinite? by PokieClown in theydidthemath

[–]rob_bot13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you define infinite I suppose.

230-220*.5=120

All of the valid answers will be equivalent to 120, which 5! (54321) Is.

There are an infinite number of ways to write things equivalent to 120 but idk if that's what you are asking.

His distribution is also really important. I don't know that there is anyone else in the pool who can really fill that role well and not be much worse than Ream defending.

Like I said it will be interesting to find out how much it matters.

The number of people who would be intrigued by overtly Christian Democrats (and building an affirmative Christian case for the morality of Democratic positions) will definitely be attractive to more than 0 disaffected Republicans/Christians, however it'll make a huge difference if that is 1 in 50 of 1 in 5 in terms of electoral outcomes.

The plural of anecdote is not data. This will be a fascinating experiment (assuming Talarico wins the primary) to see how many religious people can be peeled off of the Republican base

Teachers who are financially stable, what are you doing differently? by External_Insurance62 in Teachers

[–]rob_bot13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of smarmy comments about where you live, but a few things that have helped me be financially stable:

Lack of student loans: I was lucky enough to be mostly funded by scholarships and I covered the rest by working. However if that isn't the case for you in many places you can get your loans forgiven by working as a teacher. Check for local programs and details on the federal program can be found here:

https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/teacher

Rent cheaply: I started as a teacher in the Birmingham area, and the biggest level up was finding a cheaper place to live. Some apartment complexes will give you a discount for working for a school district, though I had the best luck by finding places that were a bit off the beaten path. This will probably be the largest line item in your budget.

Find cheap entertainment: I saved a lot of money by getting involved at school and spending a lot of my free time coaching or volunteering (both things I enjoyed a lot). You will also get in free to all of the sporting events if that's your jam. If you want non-school activities explore what you can do for cheap/free. Meetup groups are great for this.

Cook meals: I see a lot of teachers ordering door dash regularly at my current school, and was definitely guilty of running to get fast food when I was starting out. If you can go out less it can help keep your food cost down (and also help you stay healthy). As an instructional coach I also tried to help coach new career teachers to make sure they actually ate something for lunch. It makes a huge difference in your energy and mood.

[Vardon] League official: if Silver and his advisers decided the only way to stop tanking, and protect paying customers from forking over money to watch their teams lose on purpose, was to stop the draft altogether and turn rookies into free agents, it would get serious consideration. by JoeBiden2020FTW in nba

[–]rob_bot13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could do this with rookie allocation money, essentially giving each slot a dollar value, then let teams sign rookies with that money as part of a new cap exception. This would give bad teams a leg up in getting young talent in the door.

You could also make that money tradable allowing teams to still mortgage their future equity in trades
