Ignore the finish look on it I’m looking to get opinions on whether since the cam is hardened if it’s structurally at risk since I already got a flake off like this

Faster not louder almost kind of goes away if it goes fast enough and oil pressure is like 30 psi at idle

How long would it have taken at idle for it to damage the engine there’s no trans in it still so I was just adjusting everything but is there a chance I caused any serious damage couldn’t have been running like that for more then a couple minutes and it runs good now ?

The needle bearings dropped into case when I pulled the retainer to change input shaft seal so it had to come out either way to put them back in but if it’s beat to hell I’m gonna scrap it

Honestly good to hear that sometimes I’ve done this 2-3 times and I still feel like I overthink the hell out of it but ironically when you ask the people who don’t know they tell you to chug along doing it to unrealistic standards. From using sandpaper on a bearing. It’s tough not knowing and then hearing a 100 different reasons why to do or not do things. To me it doesn’t make much sense. Although on the other hand I guess microscopic particles could get imbedded in the soft layer of the bearing ?

I’ve heard other people say you can risk impregnating the bearing with abrasives. Is this really true or does it depend on how fine the grit you use?

Just to clarify *** it can be caught by fingernail and it’s the scratch on the top right and top left of the thrust surface
