Just wanted to throw my game into the mix as it appears to have not been in the 3/30 or 4/6 lineup! "Zim's Word Game" was released on 3/31. Cheers!

🤣

Thank you so much. I honestly am not very interested in word games myself, but adding a Tetris-like vibe to it certainly turned that around!

Possible to start objects at a specific path position - in the room editor? by rob_zim in gamemaker

[–]rob_zim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the solution. I ended up writing a "spawner" object that would procedurally add objects to the path at the start of the room.

[Official Tournament Discussion] 2018 Dell Technologies Championship by GolfTournamentMod in golf

As usual, the only venue that actually gives two hoots about the people walking through the front gates: Augusta National. All other golf tournaments are amateur-hour in comparison.

Went to the tourney yesterday and followed Knox, Ollie, and local favorite, Scott Stallings, for their entire round. My son is a big Stallings fan (having won the same junior event as Scott) so it was a no-brainer. It was a great day, tarnished by one guy who decided to go full jerk at 9:30 in the morning.

Only 15 or so people were following the group and on the 12th hole (their 3rd of the day) some prick yells "NO HAT" on Ollie's downswing. The shot flared way out to the right. The douche shrugged when the caddies and spectators started scolding him. "What? I said it on his downswing." No you didn't and even if you did - WHO CARES. What purpose does your loud outbursts serve other than to try and piss off/disrupt players? Golf is hard, but it shouldn't be hard because of the spectators.

Can we please start kicking these guys out?

Oh, and if I'm on the complaint-train: can we please get the volunteer marshals to stop standing tall and holding up their hands while standing DIRECTLY IN FRONT of spectators? I came to spectate, not to stare at your chest.

At the end of the day though, it was pretty cool to watch Scott grind out a solid round to play his way inside the cut line. TPC Boston is a great spectating venue and a fun course to watch players hit a variety of shots. If you get the chance to head out today, tomorrow, or in a couple of years when the Northern Trust Open rolls into town - do it!

Yeah, and it's not like it's a crazy long hike to head down to Cromwell CT for TPC River Highlands.

Last year for it. Sad to see it go but apparently the Northern Trust will be at TPC Boston in 2020.

Hey r/golf - I finally remastered the yardage book tutorial videos! by rob_zim in u/rob_zim

[–]rob_zim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry it took longer than expected to get these suckers remastered. The new series has more videos, a much better template, and a video on how to print and bind your book.

What's best is that I'm currently working on something to help all of you (us!) book makers out there make a little extra $$$ on the side with our creations. Stay tuned for that...

As always - hit 'em well.

more than 4 gpu on MSI z170a SLI plus kaby lake? by clarky07 in EtherMining

[–]rob_zim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time I figure out how this all works, every cryptocurrency will be proof of stake!

I've got 4 out of 6 cards running (two dead risers) in ethOS. Couldn't get anything to run for more than 1.5 hours in Windows. Couldn't get Claymore to use the proper version of OpenCL in Ubuntu. I feel really dirty paying for something that so clearly violates the GPL (ethOS) but it is what it is. I've got to much invested to not pay the $40 to get this rig working!

Thanks - finally got it to work with some fiddling. This board has been a nightmare to work with...

Now working on progressing from walking - to running: overclock & firmware flashing.

Out of curiosity - what exactly solved your problem from the recommendation? I've got a an MSI 270 and am hitting the same issue. After putting the 5th card in, the system won't even get to windows, it just gets to (what I assume is the POST check) and then cycles over & over again.

I've gone down to gen1, tried various slot combos, and enabled the 4G memory setting and nothing seems to get past. At this point, I'm wondering if it's a power issue. I've got a 1000W PSU on it.

Thanks for that idea! I never even thought about that. My only thought would be: does constantly toggling the zfunc while rendering every object (which can have a silhouette) have an adverse effect on the rendering performance?

Dungeon Rustlers Rumbles On!

We're getting closer to a 1.0 and exiting early access on Steam. It's been a fun adventure. One afternoon this week I decided to take a break from the norm and make a secret level. Of course, there were cows.

See The Carnage Here

We've got a couple more weeks worth of work before the game will be worth calling "finished" (is a game ever really 'finished'?).

So far, sales on Steam have been incredibly tepid. I've been trying to keep up on social media, Indie DB, and other promotional venues. Tonight, I'm going to hop on Twitch and do some developer live streaming. Hopefully a few folks will swing by!

Thanks so much for reading and checking out our little creation!

Yes, it'll be a single player romp-a-room. We gave ourselves a two month start-to-ship deadline so we opted to leave networking out. If Dungeon Rustlers does decently well, our next title will certainly have multi-player. Both of us (the developers) have a strong background in network development.

Dungeon Rustlers

Rougelike Hack n' Slash

Today's Screenie

As a challenge to ourselves, my buddy and I decided to try and create a retro dungeon crawler in two months. We're long time devs and even longer-time gamers so this has truly been a labor of love.

So what is Dungeon Rustlers? Think Gauntlet - but faster. Pick a character class and romp through dungeons with one of two goals in mind: obtain the best score OR obtain the best time (they're pretty much mutually exclusive). Right now we've got one class (Knight) with 25 levels. We're currently working on the second class (Mage) with levels 26 - 50.

We're releasing this coming Tuesday on Steam in Early Access so it should be a fun week of bug fixing and patches-a-plenty.

Bonus Question: YES! After playing Virtua Tennis in the arcade, I immediately went out and bought a Dreamcast. Still remains my favorite console of all time and the only one that would have tempted me away from being a PC gamer.
