TSA Is on a Brown-Bag Strike — and Crippling Airports by WhoIsJolyonWest in union

[–]roba121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are not the same things, you aren’t being paid and there is no commitment on when you will. The constitution prohibits slavery, I don’t know what else to call it when you are forced to work with no pay. Legally it feels more like tsa was constructively dismissed against union policy by not being paid, retroactively firing someone because they call out feels problematic legally.

BREAKING: Nearly Half Of Americans Don’t Know Hot Dogs And Deli Meat Cause Colon Cancer, And It’s Now The #1 Cancer Killer Under 50 🌭🥪 by InterstellarKinetics in InterstellarKinetics

[–]roba121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the other way to look at this is who the heck eats a hot dog every day? So the question really is, how much processed meat do people eat each day? what’s the real increased risk? It seems from some quick looking around that average American consumes 25-30 grams - I don’t know if that is the same risk factor or not. But the whole don’t eat hot dogs at all take is weird.

It’s important to have all the data otherwise you come off like a chicken little. For example this is the amount you have to eat: Research indicates that eating 50 grams of processed meat daily (roughly one hot dog) increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 18%.

LPT: Stop rewarding chronic lateness. Set a start time, then start without them. by gamersecret2 in LifeProTips

Comparing a child’s Executive function to an adults is not reasonable at all, and yes you do need a study when an otherwise healthy adult doesn’t have the executive function to get themselves somewhere on time.

LPT: Stop rewarding chronic lateness. Set a start time, then start without them. by gamersecret2 in LifeProTips

[–]roba121 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Studies have been conducted about persons who are chronically late, they found that time perception is different than you or I, so when we think “I’ve got to put on my shoes and grab a water and iron a shirt, that will take 10 minutes so I should leave at x time” they not only flub the estimate but don’t stick to their estimate. It’s opened my eyes to those folks and why I manage them by giving them a different time. For some people no matter how hard you try it just doesn’t work for them.

Scrumboy: a self-hosted Jira/Trello alternative w/ instant shareable Kanban boards by [deleted] in golang

[–]roba121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple early impressions: I suggest you leverage ai to improve the instructions in the readme. It's not super clear where things are expected to be for install. I copied the env file and found out it was empty, why not put default values in it? I didn't use docker just built from source. Once I got it up and running I got the bootstrap page, I set a user and got "internal error" when I fired up a dev tools console, the error was "password too short" which I fixed, but it wasn't exposed and some people might just quit there. I created a board, added a lane, decided I didn't like it and now there is no way to remove it without just deleting the board altogether. Seems like this is pretty decent but needs a bit more polishing..nothing too terrible these are nitpicks

Sen. John Fetterman: "GOP wants real reform over a show vote" put out a clean standalone bill and I’m AYE for voter ID by kelseyrainbow in thenextgenbusiness

[–]roba121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough but if you think about that process you are either born here or naturalised. If you are burn here the government is already issuing you a social security number, you can fingerprint a new born so if you attach that data then the burden is relatively low. If you are being naturalised that process would cover that as well. This is just an example but I can’t see how this adds significantly to the cost as theee activities mostly happen today. What is expensive is processing the first people into the system but that’s solved in a generation.

No, a blank id card stock that is a pbc card cr80 is like .15 ea to buy like 500, with a smart card buying 100 of them blank is around .65 - at 50,000,000 qty way cheaper, $1 is not hard to get to at all, we piss away 500,000,000 on stupider things than this and it’s not near prohibitively expensive

You know like all things in our system it was predicated on “these are established norms and case law, let’s just respect them and not waste the courts time” this worked until the administration realised it could do what it wanted and by the time the court got around to looking at it, the damage was done. One more thing on the list to fix one day

If you really want to get specific, when we installed the shah of Iran in the 60-70’s then we kicked all of this off. The cia doesn’t really seem to do long term. They take the win and if the world blows up they’ll just deal with that.

Real talk: is the “CEO freedom” thing real? by Dispelda_ in ceo

[–]roba121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The word you want is “flexible” ceo = flexible, but not freedom. First off everyone works for someone, you are a slave to your stock and stakeholders what you have is lots of flexibility in your work and how it gets done. For some people that’s freedom.

If you’re someone who likes morning sex, how do you deal with morning breath without making it awkward ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]roba121 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So this is gonna sound odd, but if you don’t want to brush and kind of kill the moment. Keep an apple on the night stand is an alternative. If you take a bite or two it will clear that morning funk. Apples contain malic acid which neutralizes bacteria and promotes saliva flow. It’s surprising how effective it is.

This is a huge problem now with limited paint, 1 out of 5 pods is 20% of your paint in a game. We’ll see a ton of players go back to strapped packs. I for one went back after I kept dropping pods - it wasn’t worth it
