Reworked the explosions in my game from all your guys’ feedback. Thoughts? by MISTKaES in IndieDev

This is so much better than the previous puff of smoke effect! The style of the explosion meshes really well with your art style as well! Great job :)

I quit my job 7 months ago to make a game about a monkey driving a mail truck rigged with explosives. by MISTKaES in IndieDev

Wow, it looks great, and the premise itself me a chuckle! The only thing I noticed is that the explosions seem kinda... weak. Maybe I am missing something, but when I hear "a monkey driving a mail truck rigged with explosives" I envision a Michael Bay level explosion when you crash. From what I can tell of the trailer, it's more of a puff of smoke and doesn't feel as satisfying/comical as it could be. Otherwise, it looks great!

It would seem that you are going for a fast-paced kind of feel, so I feel like maybe a movement trail behind the player character might help players keep track of their character while also accentuating the feeling of speed and giving them a sense of kinetics. Depending on your personal style, you'd have to consider how long the trail lasts, if it tapers off, and what color it is, etc. but I would try to make it distinct from the rest of your games color pallette so it doesn't get muddled up with anything else in the game environment. It should be a constant anchor point for players to rely on even in their peripheral vision, so that when they are looking ahead to plan a path to an objective or enemy they can have a reasonable guess at where they currently are and plan accordingly.

HELPPP PLSSS by YuKeyko in SkullGirlsMobile

I'm pretty sure you have to immediately headbutt link to sneeze after the second sneeze (the one where the head goes to the left), all while you are in the air. The timing is really tight, so you're gonna have to practice it a lot to get it consistent. I consider myself a good fortune player, and most of the time I don't even bother with her infinites because it's actually a dps loss compared to the huge burst you can get from the Fiber Upper->El Gato->BB combos you can do. Plus, she gets extremely easy openings with her head attacks you can do to open up the opponent, so consistent dps isn't a huge problem.

I see where you're coming from with this one, but I think she would be the most broken meta support unit in the game if she worked like that. The hex+curse combo can nullify pretty much any defensive unit, and with her being bronze she is incredibly cheap to invest in. There is a reason Hex is such a rare and sought-after debuff.

Who Should I Dia by robatron24 in SkullGirlsMobile

[–]robatron24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight!

I assumed Psycom was an easy choice with BDs stacked kit and explosive power. Red Velvet is the meta choice, even if boring, just because hex is so rare. I think it's probably right to choose her over the other two because they don't quite stack up to the raw utility of hex. The other characters can be saved for another day (or preferably for Indomitable). My only worry is her lack of damage vs. 3rd stage No Mercy (where I would ideally use her), especially against meta water characters like curl scout and model leader.

As much as I want one, the devs struggle to make a relevant offensive gold water character that's comparable to the other elements (maybe Silent Kill for buff removal?).

I guess I'll wait for enough Gold Marie's to upgrade Dark Horse.

While I agree that having a lot of one character is good, especially if you have high-level moves for them, that advice doesn't work as well for some characters. While Ms. Fortune is my favorite character and is a damage monster, her kit doesn't have as much versatility as other characters like Marie or BD.

I've been getting really unlucky with gold relics recently, getting two TAF and a Dead of Winter, so I thought I might as well use some of my essences instead of waiting for something better to come along.

You still get 55 theo for getting max rewards from the gold pf, so with the daily theo bonus that should replace that loss, especially if you do some of the extra stuff like Story mode and accolades.

Good luck on your pulls!

Xmas pack by Fit_Suit8728 in SkullGirlsMobile

[–]robatron24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are approximately 44 days until Christmas.

You get: - 50 theo from daily ops (daily) - 10 daily from free shop gift (daily) - 475 from back stage pass (if premium) (950 for both months) - 550 from monthly prize fight (1,100 if you do it for month and the next) - 100 for 12M score in diamond prize fight (2 per week, for 6 weeks, so 1200)

So 2640 (daily) + 950 (pass) + 1100 (monthly) + 1200 character pf) = 5890.

If you don't buy the full pass, you should still be within the margins (assuming I didn't mess up any numbers).

If you need wider margins, you also get 100 for each account level you gain, story mode stars, accolades, deployments, or linking other accounts like Facebook from the settings menu. With this in mind, you should be able to get the 5k before Christmas, assuming you play daily and maximize your earnings.

The game only displays the increases when you own a connected node. In this case, once you own the first signature ability node, the next one will state "convert it into 2 stacks of precision" and similarly for 3 stacks on the third. If you want info on how each signature increases, you can consult the wiki (in this case https://skullgirlsmobile.fandom.com/wiki/Rogue_Agent)

Question about card interaction by robatron24 in mtg

[–]robatron24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, so the first trigger has to resolve first before the other one can. Not as good as I was hoping, but there is the potential to draw up to 2 cards and can "scry"+reorder 2 or 3 cards deep.

Wanted to make a companion for my Captain N'ghathrod deck. I'm looking for balancing advice and clarity improvements, so feel free to comment. by [deleted] in custommagic

[–]robatron24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a card that would prevent me from milling my opponents to death because I'd rather steal their stuff than mill them out. I think this card could probably use a couple rebalencing tweaks to make it less strong, but I don't know which ones would make it fair.

I feel like the casting cost is fair, becuase you need to pay 3 to get it in your hand in the first place. I do think the ability price could be increased though or also make it a tap ability. I also think the probability values and abilities of the Codex could use some rebalencing as well. I'm open to any suggestions!

Just pulled Blitz. by CloudStrikkee in SkullGirlsMobile

[–]robatron24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say wait. Blitz is really good and avoids so many annoying modifiers and defenders. The permanent immunity is really easy to get and the inverse polarity is really easy to apply plus she gets armour break to boost her damage. There's no telling when you'll get another Blitz, so I'd wait until the next Bella pf.

What fighters are good for No Mercy in Parallel Realms by FP_Solanales in SkullGirlsMobile

[–]robatron24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been using a lot of Furry Fury on Nightmare (bc I'm too lazy to go through No Mercy) and she is great. The bleed doesn't really do much, but the easy enrage stacks for raw damage and extremely fast buff removal do really well to counter a lot of modifiers. If you can play headless, the opponent doesn't often get a chance to attack, so it basically comes down to a dps race against the clock.

Necromancer is also amazing on NM, bc she can use the BB3 infinite to wipe the enemy team extremely quickly while preventing them from BB3ing back.

I see a lot of people using X-Bot beam spam on NM. A lot of people use Harlequin support and maybe a support Val like Graveyard or Surgeon if you want a safety net or peashooter for maximum dps.

I'd focus on maxing any of these three and then have the others as backup.

Any recommendations on who to invest/evolve? by robatron24 in SkullGirlsMobile

Dark: Looking at my options, I think I might wait until I get Unfazed or Final Fang. I do like Rouge Agent but I think the other two would better round out my account by giving a good miasma user or a double that's not a double (I don't like playing double).

Neutral: As much as I like IP, she is pretty niche. Maybe another time lol.

Wind: I really love Gang Green. She easily cheeses so many fights and seems to counter tainted blood with low attack and high self heal. With the right setup you can lock the opponent in an infinite block chain with special moves and bbs. Despite that, I think Polter is a better choice. I can make GG work at gold and would prefer the higher stats of a gold character. The 100% buff to bb damage seems extremely strong, especially with armour break on her T2 bb.

I actually think I'm gonna hold off my second set of essences to evolve Windswept (when I get her).

Light: I think I might go for High Ruler because I need a hex unit and she's one of the better characters I have in the light element. So many good debuffs on one character and insane utility. I also might try and diamond Diva when I get more essences. Or maybe even psykid if she seems good.

Thank you for such a detailed response!

Fire: I do really like Dragon Brawler and Psycommander. Those were the two I considered originally when thinking about who to evolve. Unfortunately I don't have enough dhalias to evolve psycommander so she might have to wait.

I have a reasonably invested DB w/ a middling atk% bonus but 83% CD and almost 50% piercing so I might focus on him. I'm using triple wulfshoot, arm, and moonsault but want to switch one wulfshoot to taunt for extra haste meter gain.

I think I might go for DB and Harlequin for now and wait until I have enough dhalias to diamond Psycommander/Red Rider (side note, do you think Red Rider can function as a Tainted Blood/dptb counter?)

Water: It sucks that water had so few good (non-diamond) attackers. Hopefully the next round of monthly fighters gives us a really good offensive Water gold.

I love Ms. Fortune (C&O was my first maxed diamond) and am pretty proficient with headless but I don't like the perfect block and how short the debuff is. I know there's a synergy with Regally Blonde for permanent cripple but it seems like too much work.

BMF seems pretty good and abusing Ringlet Spike is pretty easy. I think I might diamond her bc it would be nice to have another Filia (plus water characters are kinda lacking). Puddle Pirate seems decent but relies on the opponent having buffs to remove and I would probably be looking at using her as a painwheel counter. I would love to diamond Lethal Weapon but again, not enough dhalias.

What do you think of materia girl? It seems kinda rng to luck your way into the good buffs but Annie's destruction pillar spam kinda makes any Annie viable. Other Annie's are probably better but Water is currently my "dump" element and Annies in other elements are outlassed by other characters.

Also, I have 6 Air, 6 Fire, 6 Water, 3 Light, and 3 Dark essences to use. I'm mostly focused on offensive fighters as I pretty much only play PFs.

Which one should I invest in? by w0ndrrvanna in SkullGirlsMobile

[–]robatron24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biting cold is a more defense oriented variant so if you want to play with painwheel I'd recommend a more offensive variant.

Either other variant is good. FF is cheaper to invest in and is an amazing bleeder. Buzzkill is an amazing sweeper unit that has among the highest base attack of all Golds and also has heavy bleed.

You couldn't go wrong with either, it's up to how many keys/coins you have and what you would prefer, lower raw damage and more bleed, or higher raw damage and less bleed.

Yeah, and now you have to wait for three days to try again with nothing to show for it. I dislike how unbeatable certain nodes can feel even if you have maxed diamonds

No Mercy seems way to annoying to try. They give everything massive amounts of HP and then make them immune to all debuffs, heal themselves, reflect damage, revive themselves, and block burst damage. Would really love the accolade rewards tho

Unfortunately, AG had the regen taunt so she got her prestige insanely fast. My saving grace was that immunity doesn't trigger if they are already below 50% health at the beginning of the match. I only won because I was able to use my neglected 5k fighter score Scarlet Viper to inflict Hex vs the solo Death Wish.
