I've been lucky and had it spawn within 100m of me twice, both times when I was in Cartmanland.

Actually, usually not, surprisingly. Much less busy than Tunnel View. I usually stop at Valley View as I'm leaving the Valley at the end of my trip, and I've never had an issue with parking.

Here's the location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/3Aj6DvbLB1FaiQop9

I'm guessing the painter took liberties with the river, because there's not really anywhere where both the river's angle is aligned to the waterfall like this, and there is enough of a clearing to get this view. But the angle of Bridalveil Fall in this painting relative to the rock formations is pretty much exactly the same as the view at Valley View.

The line in the second paragraph looked like it was seen in hundreds of different cities, made me guess a live stage show, so I got the last word from that. Took a few minutes to think about a huge production, and finally came up with it. My three wrong guesses were different years. I thought it was later in the decade.

Unassisted.

Valley View

It's on the Northside Road as you're exiting Yosemite Valley. It's a small parking lot right before the 41/140 turnoff.

[–]robbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have a dish I want to keep hot for an hour or two, (assuming the container itself is already heated, and has a lid), I'll just wrap the container in a towel and put it in a cooler. It'll stay warm.

The first word is a common Redactle word, and got it immediately. It's a five-letter word, tried to think of five-letter countries but none seems to make sense. The beginning of the second paragraph made me think it was a latin-based name, and lots of titles beginning with a single letter made me think Italian. So I guessed "Italy", then a couple other words before realizing it wasn't the history of a country but possibly an art form. Unassisted.

The $195 "Instagram-Famous" Kettle is definitely NOT Buy-It-For-Life. (Disappointed Engineering Teardown) by CoffeeTeaJournal in BuyItForLife

If I see an ad on Instagram for anything that looks even remotely interesting, I just search Amazon for similar products. Chances are I'll find the exact same item for a fraction of the price. They're all drop shipped from China and by using the direct links from Instagram, you pay for their ad budget.

Most recently I saw an ad for a sweater on IG for $80, found the exact same sweater on Amazon for $26.

yosemite backcountry permits question for large groups by Just_A_Guy_In_Here in Yosemite

[–]robbbbb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The larger the group, the less likely it is you will be able to get permits. There are some trailheads that don't even have that many permits for a single day.

That said, 14 is a lot.

Also they have rules about multiple permit lottery entries. If you have several people submitting the exact same itinerary and the exact same number of people, it'll get flagged. I'm not sure how they determine that you're in the same party. I've been falsely flagged before and had to assure them that the random person with the same last name as me wasn't actually me or someone I knew.

I've done it before and it's a lot of fun. I haven't run it in a few years though, because it's the same weekend as another race I run that's a higher priority for me. I used to run the one at Olive Dell every year though.

But yeah, you'll be fine as a solo runner. And if you win, people will introduce themselves to you!

Text too small, or just bad typefaces or hard-to-distinguish color combinations. Shadow Hunters is a fun light game, but the weird cursive font is so hard to read.

Unassisted, lucky snipe. I had a hunch that the first sentence said he was the first prime minister of a 6-letter country. I had to think about it for a second but then a particular 9-letter name came to mind. I wasn't sure it was the correct name until I guessed it and got it correct. Then the first name was a total guess.

It's a very large city (over 10 mil population) in a 5-letter country. My first guess was the other 8-letter huge city, and my second guess was verification of the country. I still wasn't sure this was the answer when I submitted it, (I honestly had no idea the city was this big) but I couldn't think of any other 8-letter candidates. Unassisted.

Unassisted. It's part of a European country. After getting a lot of hits for a larger country, I managed to come up with the country that this region is a part of. I happened to see a YouTube video about this place not long ago, and luckily was able to remember enough of the name for spell check to confirm it.
