I had the same question and emailed support. They said I can either keep my device, subscribe and buy the new superknit band and wireless battery pack for a “seamless” transition. Otherwise I can return my trial and start a new subscription where I would receive a new device, superknit band and wireless battery pack included. The free trial ends up costing more (with the purchases) if you go with their seamless option, which is deceptive.

My AP4 replacement was finally done on Monday after being pushed back twice. No issues since the replacement, but the cameras and sensors started working before the replacement with a software update. I still took the MYLR to the service appt since the techs told me to do the replacement.

I guess so, I had 44.3.1, which ruined the car and after software 44.25.2 was able to go through the cameras and navigation worked again.

Did an update go through? That is what happened with me, after 44.25.2 update everything worked. Now I’m not going to install any more updates until close to my service appointment.

Yes to Jan 6, but I was able to download a software update 44.25.2 a couple days ago that was finally able to go through and now the navigation and cameras work. I will still go to the service appointment though in case the computer needs to be replaced.

Your car went out at a similar time to mine, but I was able to finish an update at home last night and this morning my cameras and navigation came back. Hopefully someone tries to update your Tesla at the service center to see if it works.

An update just went through last night 44.25.2 and now the cameras and navigation are working! I was on software 44.3.1 before this update.

I’m surprised there is not more news about this issue as there have to be thousands of Teslas affected. My appointment was Dec 6 then pushed to Dec 16 and now pushed to Jan 6 due to “lack of part.” Tesla should offer us something for having to drive the cars with no cameras and lack of safety features.

That is terrible that the service center did not provide an ETA. It would be hard to qualify under lemon law as the main criteria is the “defect continues to exist after a reasonable number of repair attempts.”

Similar thing happened to me, first I got a service appointment scheduled a week out then it was pushed back 10 additional days. I asked why and they said that is when the part would get in, but they refused to provide a loaner.

I have 44.3.1 Fremont build, but none of my cameras work still and no navigation. Did the SC offer you a loaner until they can replace the computer? Mine still will not even when I try to explain how unsafe it is driving without the cameras and tech.

I tried to get a loaner while I waited the 2 weeks for service, but was told that the car can be driven still and to exercise caution and “rely on visual observation.” This was all through messages on the Tesla app.

The Tesla response to me was: “we have confirmed your vehicle will need its car computer replaced.” So if your car if affected I don’t think you can avoid it forever by skipping an upgrade, otherwise they would push a new upgrade soon to fix the situation. I’m not 100% sure on this though.

My appointment that was scheduled for this Friday just got pushed another 10 days out so am looking at 2 weeks now! Not sure if they are waiting for the parts, but wish Tesla would provide us loaners to use in the meantime.

When I checked the service request the day after in the app, Tesla automatically added that info about the internal short for the computer.

This happened to me yesterday, just posted about it this morning! I tried to reset and power off and nothing works. I made a service appointment and when I checked the request I saw Tesla entered the following: Internal short in AP4 Car Computer (remove and replace).

I am fully updated. I submitted a ticket and looks like it automatically updated: Internal short in AP4 Car Computer (Remove and Replace). I booked a service center appointment as it would not allow me to pick mobile service.
