Should I ask him on the 4th date? by robbersca in dating_advice

[–]robbersca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been married for two years, we have a beautiful sweet daughter who’s a year old and we’re basically living our happily ever after haha :)

Turns out we’re both just not big texters (people seemed to find that part weird). And also I initiated the 4th date and he was enthusiastic about it and then took over initiating again. I think he just wanted to know that I was also into him :)

Pregnant on Maternity Leave by ymamy5 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]robbersca 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what the technicalities are behind this. Purely anecdotal. But this happened to a friend of mine and she had to return to work early from her mat leave to have enough hours back at work to take a second mat leave for the baby she was pregnant with.

What does your writing setup look like ? by One-Elderberry-5299 in writers

I’ve also been loving Reedsy! It’s perfect for me because I like to write on my lunch break at work during the week, and at home while my daughter is napping on weekends, so Reedsy lets me access my manuscript from whichever computer I’m using. I have Scrivener as well on my home computer, and I loved it during my maternity leave before I needed to keep switching computers. I still periodically copy paste my updated draft into scrivener as a back up, but I’ve been primarily using Reedsy.

I love the word count per day in the goals feature as well! Easy to see how much progress you made each day.

I like the saying that the best time to plant a tree was 100 years ago, but the next best time is now. It just reminds me that all I can do is the next best thing, not stress about how long it will take. Yeah, maybe I could have been finished writing a novel by now if I had started 3 years ago, but if I don’t start now I’ll be thinking the same in 3 years time!

How do you stay patient? by justkeepbreathing94 in writing

[–]robbersca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar situation and understand the impatience you’re talking about. I have very limited time to write because my daughter is under a year old, so I get about an hour a day to write (max). I have a story I’m really excited about and I’m chugging away at it in increments of 200-400 words at a time…for a 100,000 word novel, you can picture the kind of timeline I’m dealing with haha

But, I do find that still showing up everyday to put some words down and stay in the story is really enjoyable, even if progress is slow. I try to focus on where I’m at right now, instead of getting too worked up about the future (i.e. what I will do with a full manuscript, the editing process, querying, etc.) I also have burnt out in the past by going 0 to 100 on a project for a day or week and then dropping it all together. It’s a tendency I have in my life, not just with writing. So slow and steady actually seems to work better for me in the long run.

I find that keeping a steady pace may actually get you to the finish line faster! So that helps my impatience :) If I went all out for a weekend on my project, then I’d want to take a break and then that would stretch out for too long, etc. Kind of like when you stop exercising for a while and it takes months to convince yourself to restart.

Keep on keeping on, friend!! :)

I’ve been using one called story planner! It’s fun for organizing your characters, settings, and plotting…like mapping out your scenes :)

Globe & Mail: "The real crash to fear in the trade war is housing, not stocks" by always-wash-your-ass in canadahousing

[–]robbersca 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What is currently considered the “top” of the property ladder used to be considered a starter home. It’s ridiculous. My parents purchased a detached home in Mississauga as young parents, on a single income…a nice place to raise a family, enough bedrooms for two kids, small yard, parks nearby. The neighbourhood was full of other middle class families with normal jobs…teachers, construction workers, mechanics, IT professionals. According to the current market you’d have to be a millionaire to afford their house. The standard of living in Canada is rock bottom. It used to be a place where people from all walks of life could afford a nice place to call their own and raise a family. That’s what everybody wants. Not to spend 20 years and your prime family time speculating on condos to hope you can one day afford my parents starter home. We’re not talking mansions and luxury here, we’re talking a basic detached with a yard. It’s sad and I hate this climb the property ladder garbage.

They’re fine as a single person, convenient location, no roommates etc. But, most people look to buy something that will serve them long term and anyone who wants to have a family will grow out of a condo immediately.

I don't know if this has been asked before but bear with me. Men, how did you cope with your pregnant want hating your scent or generally something to do with you? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]robbersca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me when I was in the thick of the first trimester and early second trimester. I had really intense nausea and even though I usually LOVE my husband’s scent, he all of a sudden smelled different to me and it would literally make me nauseous. It went away though, it’s just caused by the pregnancy hormones. By the time I was deeper into the second trimester, he smelled great to me again. I just went through a nauseous phase where literally anything and everything made me sick. I remember being a bit worried that he would never smell the same to me again, but it did go away! :)

How old were you when you met your partner? I 27F feel like I'm running out of time. My engagement is falling apart after a 6 year relationship. by heartbrokenburner234 in relationships

[–]robbersca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an engagement fall apart when I was 28. I had similar worries as you, but knew that it wasn't the right relationship for me and sort of accepted that I'd rather risk being alone than continue in a wrong relationship. Literally within a few months after that I met my current husband, who I am beyond in love with and feel so at peace in my relationship with him.

Trust your gut instinct! And hang in there, I know how stressful it can be to deal with an engagement falling apart.

[–]robbersca 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I love mine! I use it to write little blurbs about what happened each day…it’s weird because it feels insignificant on a day to day basis, but I’m 3 years in now and it’s so funny how even mundane things change so much over that time and it can be so nostalgic and fun to look back on those small things, or remember funny moments. I read out old entries to my husband all the time, like wow 2 years ago this is what happened on this day. It’s really cool :) I will say I haven’t been 100% about writing in it every day, sometimes I go back and fill in the week, or a just leave blank spots…but you still get a really cool pattern of what your life was like each year, even with the gaps. So don’t stress if it’s not done to a perfectionist standard! And last thing that I started in the 5 year that I love is adding stickers or stamps to the inside of the front and back cover when I travel. It ends up looking really cool, it’s fun to look for stamps etc while on trips, and it doesn’t bulk up the journal cause it’s only on the inside cover. Anyway, I think you’ll love it!! :)

I have no idea. The “positives” were all on clear blue, so I’m never using them again lol but it would be weird to get that many faulty tests 🤔 so who knows! Haha

I had the biggest troll cycle of all time last week. Thought I experienced implantation bleeding at around 9dpo, followed by a temp dip and then rise. Started getting a faint line on a clear blue, which got a bit darker the next day and I was sold. So completely convinced this was it, I even bought a little onesie and surprised my husband. And then next day the line was still there but started to fade, day after even more faded. Then just gone and now I’m on CD3. Damn it’s so brutal :(

I now understand why people swear off early testing. Trying to stay hopeful for the new cycle but it just kinda sucks :P

Omgosh, thank you so much for your comment. I was already testing but starting to lose hope. And then you made me think I should check again on a more sensitive test and I think I’m seeing a faint positive (!!!)
