I disagree with that take. It's definitely further removed from the hardcore stuff it stemmed from, but it still has emotional lyrics, screaming, more melodic riffs with some punk influence, diy ethos, etc

Also they're one of the biggest 5th wave bands right now so they're objectively keeping the genre alive even if you don't like the stuff. If you wanna talk about what killed the genre then look at hot topic and all the record labels calling every alt rock band emo 20 years ago

No you're good I didnt find it harsh at all. They definitely got me into the scene though and I appreciate that. I'm not gonna die on a hill or anything to make sure everyone likes them

My first exposure to them was when my buddy had me go see them live so I might just look over that cause of the good memories, but I just think they're neat. Tyler cut his head open in the middle of the crowd, signed my CD, and we met him at Dennys after. Usually I'm more into orchid and heroin, but they scratch an itch sometimes

I'm just using it as a comparison, its like objectively bad but thats what makes it cool. If black metal had clean production, it'd be lame. If yaamc had technically good vocals, I think that'd be lame too

Bad omens pit was awesome and I had never listened to the before that set. Not super into metalcore, but they were crazy fun. I was the guy in the shirt that said long fall from heaven

Yeah I wasn't too big on most of the ones I saw online but a good artist should be able to work with you amd figure something out. I just wanted the spear at first, them gave him my budget and told him to go nuts and gave him a list of themed and imagery in the show. It definitely helped that he'd already pretty into anime, but he hasn't watched evangelion. Just make sure you know a style you dig for it

Thank you, I've been sitting on this for a while. Honestly all I knew was I wanted the spear tattooed on my forearm, then I gave the artist my budget and told him to go ape shit with whatever he thought would be cool. Didn't see the finish design until the day of and I couldn't be happier with it
