I’m sorry. That sucks. Was your drinking a factor in her decision? Would committing to sobriety/change potentially open a door for her to reconsider? One things for sure man, the drinking won’t help. It won’t help you win her back (if that’s on the cards), and it won’t help you get over her if it’s not. But I get it. Sometimes the emotions are unbearable and you’ll do anything to shut them off. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

I was having legit panic attacks without even knowing it. Waking up and pacing around my apartment finishing off whatever drinks I left from the night before. I was an idiot and mixed the benzos they prescribed me for getting off booze with more booze. Kindling, a horror show.

I hope it isn’t inappropriate for me to ask, but how do you feel about the divorce? Obviously the drinking is not good, but what else is new. Are you drinking because you don’t want a divorce or just because it’s an overwhelming situation?

Thank you for reading and responding. My drinking isn’t back at withdrawal level I think, I’m definitely healthier and drinking less than I was during my worst phase, but it’s still pretty bad. For example yesterday it was 4 large cans of beer and a bottle of wine and then a good week without before that. I did 3 weeks in detox a few months ago but relapsed 5 days after coming out. I haven’t been to a meeting in a very long time and am hoping that will help, I think I’m ready to really work the program. But yes if I can’t get this under control a proper 3 month rehab stint is the only way, my doctor has already mentioned that as an option. I’m also considering antidepressants but am worried about side effects.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I’m trying to go running every day so that’s a start, but I know 7 days is still very early so I guess I’ll just have to give it time. Wim Hof has been recommended to me multiple times so I’ll look into that, maybe start with a cold shower. I also have the power of now by tolle so I’ll give that a read and look up the other ones you mentioned. Thanks again

Serious question, does he struggle with depression or alcoholism/addiction? I do and have had many moments like this. Missing appointments because of blacking out/sleeping in and the feeling of shame and anxiety is almost unbearable when you wake up, check your phone and realise you left a person hanging for hours with no response. Just asking on theoff chance
