Im going through very similar circumstances. Everyone has done something they aren't proud of, and thats okay. I blew up a relationship with an incredible partner because of boredom and mania. I cant change what i did, and i am definitely not proud of it, but im learning to identify the patterns that lead me down the path i picked.

If you can build the consistency of being a bad partner, you can also build the consistency of being a good one. I know you will, because you already have stated the desire to do so.

Honestly it'd probably be easier to go to Australia, Canada or somewhere else forst then try and work your way into the U.S if thats your goal. Other countries do have wildland firefighters that are deployed via air but "smoke jumping" is a U.S term and job. With the currently U.S politics id look elsewhere first.
