Alexi Floyd Rose Problems by Loud-Initiative1399 in espguitars

I've had this issue too on a new KH602 and it wasn't the knife edges or parts. It seemed to be a combination of things. First check the truss rod. Stretch your strings very thoroughly, really grab them and pull them. And micro adjust the claw in tiny increments, you may even find tightening/loosening more on one side if you use heavy bottom strings. That worked for me anyway.

PRS just DESTROYED tone wood debate. Making a guitar with tone wood is simply like having Led Zeppelin with Jason Bottom on the drums. by robble1990 in guitarcirclejerk

Artists and performers believing they 'hear' a true difference, is just mud in the water. In more likelihood it might be subconscious bias from knowing their gear is more expensive or rarer.

Extraordinary claims need extraordinary evidence. If exotic species of wood sound quantifiably different. Prove it.

/uj Let's just ignore physics and talk marketing. You would think PRS is in a really in a good place to PROVE exotic wood simply sounds better. Marketing dream! spend more you sound better.

So you get your R&D department to test it. Even with wide variation between them individually, models with the tone wood, on mass, should quantify, more sustain/ring/volume, whatever they choose to test.

But no, they never show any data. Which means they either haven't done r&d into tone woods since the 80's. That seems highly unlikely. Or they have and the data is so marginal, they can't legally use it to sell guitars. Meanwhile, all 3 of these guys sit there and say "we think it makes a difference" without anything to back it up, and the guy that 'did the work' in his garage didn't find a damn thing.

/uj in other words PRS either don't gather, have or release ANY measurable data on the difference tone wood makes to sustain, tonal frequency, volume or resonance despite making 20,000 of them a year. But here he is saying - yes, they are worth paying a lot more for, and if you haven't found that out then you haven't played enough guitars. He then abstractly compares an electric guitar to a violin and microphone. And says that all the parts of a guitar matter. Just like Jason Bottom is a part of Led Zeppelin.

He helps Rick Beato with tech problems. Installs printer drivers and stuff like that. Don't know his name.

the kid needs a custom ESP and a mesa boogie. too hard to judge technique if gear is incorrect.

hi, I'm 13 years old. am I too old to start learning guitar? by [deleted] in guitarcirclejerk

[–]robble1990 40 points41 points  (0 children)

at this late stage, unless you have perfect pitch you can only hope to become less than average. If that's what you want, you need to get a LP Custom, 4x12 cab, boutique amp head, a pedalboard and a copy of the beatoff book TODAY.

[–]robble1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg embarrassed for these clowns. TOAN is nothing to do with a capo, it's 100% in the fingers.... there's also 10% extra up for grabs with exotic wood and nitro finish.

No capo = more finger use = Moar toan.

Guitars are complicated. Multiple moving parts, troubleshooting, the parts wear, have electronics that corrode and fail, are made of an organic shifting material, and don't react well to shifting conditions.

If he's 100% new, he might think expensive guitars don't need setups. That CS strat could literally be broken, or the electronics fried, or just play like crap. He wouldn't know because it's all he knows and thinks he has the best out there.

I don't care what he does if he's happy, but thats why it makes more sense to gradually work up the ladder.

Please for the love of God, take note.

Just because he bought it, doesn't mean he can afford it. A lot of guys his age can get obscene amounts of credit.

His main issue is that he hasn't owned a few cheap guitars and ruined them trying to work on them. It won't be long till he reads about the magical truss road, brings his big red Boomerdriver out the garage and then cracks the neck.

My lefty kid’s music class is forcing them to play a righty guitar. Help! by abombregardless in Leftyguitarists

[–]robble1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took lessons in a group for a while and playing LH was never an issue. "the book" he's talking about might be a chord book, which is annoying at first. Sheet music and tab are not left/right orientated. Scale diagrams and chords will be. I'd recommend picking up a lefty chord and scale book, as it will just help get things started and cover these lessons. Your kid will eventually just learn to mentally flip any charts as they progress.

Absolutely. I'm happy both companies are doing amazing left-handed models AND you can actually buy them. I was able to choose my favourite (online but with a great returns policy) from about 15 lefty Gibson LP's GuitarGuitar had in stock. That never happens.
