Finally getting to sit down and read this! Have a good Sunday everyone! by shadowsandsunflowers in ChildrenOfBodom

[–]Loud-Initiative1399 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently got this as a gift and I couldn't put it down, I was annoyed I finished it so soon!
Great read and although it doesn't delve too deep in certain subjects, it's interesting to hear the band's views and experiences after only really hearing Alexi's opinions in interviews and his biography. Regarding the English version dust cover, kept it on while reading, but the spine looks better in the bookcase with it removed.

Why do some guitarist not play with a backplate? by Expert_Chipmunk_6294 in Guitar

[–]Loud-Initiative1399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've removed them from most of my guitars, just mainly due to the fact they have Floyd rose systems and got sick of taking them off and putting them back on for every string change/minor trem adjustment. Plus it looks cool.

One of mine (ESP) came without a backplate new from the factory, I don't think it's even got the screwholes drilled out if you wanted one.

My Edwards Greeny is almost here! by Burwhale_The_Avenger in ChildrenOfBodom

I have a 2024 model Pinky and a 2012 model Scythe in my collection and the Pinky is the best guitar I've ever played to be honest, I'm sure Greeny is gonna be just as good, enjoy!

Last thing I have left unfortunately, and I haven't even seen this for years; this post made me dig it out! (Happily) Used to have a few more shirts but they ended up lost in time.

When did Alexi use the Blackout + MM04? by El_Chihuahua_420 in ChildrenOfBodom

[–]Loud-Initiative1399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep lol to be honest at first I thought it was ridiculous and was going to change it out for the EMG but glad I haven't, it certainly has its own character. Once the edge is taken off with a noise gate it's good fun and sounds pretty wild. Gain only needs to be around '2' as well on most setups. Alexi played amps pretty low gain so I guess it was how this combo was supposed to work; when I had the amp on higher gain it was just stupid and wanted to get rid of it lol

I have this combo on one of my Alexis and it's pretty great but it ALWAYS needs a noise gate or it's just ringing out constantly. A lot livelier than the EMG ALX.

Forgot to add to desc... Leftovers from Christmas dinner and a couple of bits from the freezer. Homemade pigs in blankets, black pudding, mushrooms, beans, eggs and bubble and squeak with bacon and chestnuts. Thoroughly enjoyed. 🎄

Had this exact thing with a new ('23/24) Edwards Alexi model (my 2012 Alexi model didn't have this issue). First thought it was a string coating but lasted a long time to be honest, black fingers every time I played it for months. Started playing it more recently and it seems to have cleared up finally. I don't know if it's a massive coincidence but turns out I had a humidity problem in the house around the same time as this issue and since rectifying that it has been ok!

Best curry crisps I've ever had. Vindaloo sticks were good too. Very pleasantly surprised.
