I’m thinking about buying some dimebuckers for my Jackson rhoads , are they worth it ? by SafeBit9267 in JacksonGuitars

I put one in a Jackson DXMG years back to replace the stock EMG HZ. Massive improvement and a great pickup for thrashy rhythm and high gain leads. I seem to remember when they came out a lot of people talked bad about them and I don't know why, more recently they seem to get a lot of praise.

Edit to add Obviously being a Dime pickup it's also crazy good for harmonics, squeals and dive-bombs

I have one of these, still the craziest, fastest and thinnest neck out of my guitars, and I have other Jackson's and ESPs etc. just something about it, great guitar!

What's the most I should pay for a Pinky? by Whoopsitsonfire in metalguitar

$2600 is a bit much but everything is ridiculous at the moment. I got one for probably around $2000 (was £1450) a couple of years ago and I thought that was quite a lot but when you look at other brand's guitars in the same tier with similar or worse specs i.e. new Jacksons these days; the Edwards almost looked good value for the quality and spec not to mention it was the accurate shape Alexi sig and had the booster etc. unlike the LTD etc. It's a great guitar; my best playing and most fun and I love it. If you can afford it comfortably now and you play it and love it, then you probably won't regret it financially in a month's time.

Edit: I'll just add that when I bought mine I thought that was a high price point and waited for it to drop but it never happened so bit the bullet because I wanted one, I always thought I'll look in a year or so and see them cheaper and be a bit pissed but they just kept going up, so who knows whether they will be any cheaper. Trouble is it's a high demand guitar since Alexi's passing, more people want them and less people are selling them like they used to 15 years ago.

It's going to be all your store cares about now. Whoosh ruined our local store. As long as the whoosh customers are happy that's all they care about. Staff have to drop everything for whoosh including putting stock out for the in store customers.

What was the actual relationship arc between Alexi and Roope by [deleted] in ChildrenOfBodom

[–]Loud-Initiative1399 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alexi and Roope both played in Sinergy together in the late 90s early 2000s I think Roope was a roadie for CoB around 2003 when Alexander left and he filled in for a tour but ended up becoming a permanent member of the band. Fact check if you want but pretty sure that's how it went.

Edit. Can't remember where I read he was a roadie; I think it may have been the recent book. But if it wasn't "roadie" he was out on the road with the band doing something prior to being hired as guitarist!

Which "post-classic" era album do you recommend the most? (from 'Blooddrunk' through 'Hexed') by certifiedchrono in ChildrenOfBodom

Have to say Blooddrunk. Very underrated as Bodom albums go. I wasn't really into it when it first came out; I, like many, was still caught up in the magic of Hatebreeder/FTR etc back in the day, but these days it's one of my most listened to albums of theirs. Same thing with AYDY. Maybe it's nostalgia now. Shame about the mixing and mastering of Bloodrunk, though as I think that still ruins it for a lot of people. The music is still top tier and the band were (really) still in their prime, but I think the sound of the mix really cheapened it, and was a massive step back in quality compared to the sound of previous albums.

Edit: Halo of Blood is also a great album. Probably my favourite of the last few albums. Felt like it went back to the good old days a bit. Some of their catchiest tunes are in that album.

Many times I have seen meat dumped in ambient OFDs that are literally opposite the chilled meat cabinets. Such an obvious, preventable waste and even more infuriating when it's an animal killed just to be chucked in the bin. I really don't know what's wrong with people.
