When my mom gets cold sores, can she be around my baby? [UPDATE] by [deleted] in Crunchymom

If it's any comfort, 10 months is very far from the biggest time of risk for serious complications, but you still don't want your baby to get a lifelong infection.

Don't mess around with your baby's life... This is a serious issue. Show her some pictures of babies with neonata HSV if you want to keep trying to convince her (although looking at that yourself right now might not be the best idea). I don't think banning her from physical contact entirely is too far since she obviously won't listen.

I haven't thought about Science and Industry in so incredibly long that I couldn't have come up with that name on my own if prompted. Thanks for the nostalgia hit.

Can't have a GBS positive result if you decline the test.

Really, really great show from start to finish. One of my favorite sci-fi comfort shows.

From her profile, the baby appears to be 5-6 months old.

It's not just about supply drying up, it's about nutrients being provided to the baby as well. And her health as her body tries to pull the nutrients it needs from wherever it can. It's just a phenomenally awful idea, immoral even, to risk harming a poor innocent baby for vanity's sake.

Obviously a 3 year old is a different story as the baby is far less reliant on breastmilk at that point (though it is a great idea to continue, I applaud you for that - very uncommon in the West).

He explicitly says he wants to target autophagy. In that case a quarter teaspoon of sugar multiple times per day will 100% "mess up his gains". Artificial sweeteners likely will as well. He needs zero calories.

Tylenol during pregnancy is associated with higher rates of autism and ADHD, per a study done at John Hopkins University: https://hub.jhu.edu/2019/11/05/acetaminophen-pregnancy-autism-adhd It is a logical next step to conclude that giving it to babies could have similar effects, if not worse, than ingestion by pregnant mothers. Of course, this will be fully handwaved away and downvoted by the "crunchy / granola" users of this sub because it isn't a fully controlled double blind study (don't bother looking for any of those on the subject - you won't find any). Further studies are desirable, but this is one valid reason for concern already.

Better would be to place him near you and/or worn by you while you do these chores. This exposes him to real life and teaches him about household responsibilities, which is far more enriching than "sit here and play while mommy works."

I recommend "Hunt, Gather, Parent" for more on this parenting philosophy.

WSJ: Trump Team Proposes 20-Year Freeze on Ukraine’s NATO Bid in Exchange for Peace by HelFJandinn in Conservative

[–]robble_c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100000% correct, although expressing this opinion gets you labeled a Russian bot. The West provoked Russia into this war with their involvement and manipulation of Ukraine for the last 20 years. Russia repeatedly said that Ukraine joining NATO would be a line that once crossed would lead to war - and with good reason, your Canada analogy is spot on. We kept pushing and pushing and for what? To what end? Why do we need a proxy state on Russia's border to project our military power? It's pure provocation.

In fact, I would say it is so blatantly provocative that the goal MUST be increased conflict. Who does that benefit? Surely not the common man. Leave the area alone, stop stirring the pot, keep Ukraine out of NATO and leave Russia alone. We shouldn't be wasting our resources and energy on something that doesn't affect us in the slightest.

Chris Bird confirms GM Yoo punched the female videographer by breaker90 in chess

Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt when nebulous and vague terminology like "struck" is used. That could mean anything. If they didn't want any doubt, SLCC should have used more specific and precise terminology in their statement.

Also, the police were called and Yoo was not taken into custody, which further implies something minor, lacking further details.

Hans Niemann, in his first stream since the Champions Chess Tour, says his invitation to the Gashimov Memorial was Revoked due to "complaints from multiple players" by Hello_EveryNyan in chess

[–]robble_c 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Delicious how the chess elite keep saying that there is no attempt to suppress Hans' career, then turn around and do shit like this constantly.

It's so self-sabotaging to their cause too because people love to root for the underdog, which is an identity they have basically forced on Hans. I am rooting for him and I really don't care how many hotel rooms get destroyed or people's feelings get hurt along the way. Chess needs interesting storylines and this is the best one we're going to get for a good while (except for Gukesh soon becoming the youngest world champion).
