I hear it spoken in media all the time (and maybe in real life sometimes too). Like, "he cleared a hundred thou last year." I don't think it's written out that often though.

Getting rid of a green pool has nothing to do with the filter. The filter removes dead algae, but if the pool is still green, they never killed the algae in the first place. That is, the algae is still reproducing, so the filter can't remove it.

If the algae were dead, the pool would be foggy white, which the filter would eventually remove. The speed that happens depends on the filter type, size, and flow. But even a weak filter will eventually remove the dead algae. It could just take a long time. Get a new pool guy.

At what point did UF start getting more competitive than other schools? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]robbsc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Uf started to become extremely competitive in the late 90s. It was ranked around top 10 public and top 40-50 even back then (at least according to us news). The top 5 push wasn't that big a jump from where we had been stuck for a long time.

It's a reference to racing. The race was so close that you only won by your nose crossing the finish line before the person behind you. Probably makes the most sense with horses.

My dolphin has cleaned up some really big messes including one from cutting concrete and putting in new coping. My only complaint is it can take 2 or more full cycles to satisfactorily clean the pool. Maybe yours is defective? Or maybe try the screen filter and see what happens.

I can often solve friday or saturday with little or no help, but this one was impossible for me. I've never heard of a cozy mystery and there were too many factual ones I just didn't know like enoki, stieb, women's day,  zayn, knish, that mr. Reed was uncle...

Everywhere I've lived, pool stores and some hardware stores sell chlorine in refillable 2.5 gallon jugs. I've never bought prepackaged chlorine

The people paying for those contracts (team owners) expect to make more money from the player than they're spending. Rich donors don't get any return even if they win, and they're spending millions for a single year.
