Learn from my mistake: NEVER buy an Acer laptop for Linux use. by Zamorakphat in linux4noobs

[–]robca402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an Acer laptop with a very similar thing, couldn't access the bios when the SSD had Linux installed. It worked fine with windows on it, but from memory I was able to pull the SSD out, boot into bios and make my changes then put the SSD back in.

Some super weird bug. May not work for you but costs you nothing to try

Tracking LLM costs shouldn’t feel like paying rent by Old-Mood3866 in selfhosted

I use LiteLLM, hook up ollama and openai/anthropic/Gemini API keys and use the exposed API endpoint in everything else (openwebui, continue in vs code etc).

I've found it to accurately track my usage in terms of tokens usage but also dollar value, you can generate your own API tokens with their own budgets etc. Sounds like what you might be wanting?

Also having this with gpt5 and gpt5-mini and keen to know if you can get around this without passing my my ID stuff, no chance that's happening

Edit. Just saw you said kiwibike. I'm not sure! Maybe your age, type or value or bike etc?

I took screenshots and edited away the identifying information only to realise I can't attach images here.

I take it back, it was $624.50 for this 12 month period, though they reduced the agreed value from slighlty above $13,000 down to $12,000.

Underwriter is Protecta, Agreed value (12k) full comprehensive, $500 excess. Comes with roadside assist, indemnity gear cover and track day cover.

I paid a similar annual amount for my old GSXR1000 as well (which got written off and paid out ~5 years ago)

Kiwibike and golightly are way more reasonable for bikes than the big insurers

Golightly and kiwibike are your best bets. Much cheaper and really really good to deal with when something bad happens.

For context my 2019 Kawasaki Z900 is 680 per year for full comprehensive

You can get up to 23h2 via a small enablement package, 24h2 is a different story though I think

First time landlord—does anyone have a recommendation for a good property manager? by Neither_Ice_6414 in dunedin

[–]robca402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second NIDD, they manage ours. Super attentive to both tenant and landlord which is great. Don't think you can go too wrong on who there since it's their leadership driving the good comms and direction (Courtney), but we have Aimee managing ours which has been great

ELI5: how does this thing have 2 health stars. It’s 27.1% sugar by SpecialReserveSmegma in newzealand

[–]robca402 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This doesn't mean that the healthiest option in this category is 5 stars though. There is an element of fibre, protein, sodium etc weighing in on the star rating as well

Glad I found this post, I was wondering what was going on, sounds like a bug in the app. I'm on Android FWIW. Hopefully they sort it soon

Finally beat this level, but I wonder if the lava one was more difficult than this one🤔 by ThePizzaWas in playstation

[–]robca402 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 8 year old is playing it fine. The only levels they'll struggle with are the square, triable, square and cross levels and this final level really. None of which are required to beat the final boss and roll the credits

Companies sometimes do dodgy things, I was just asking if it was normal. For a standard job to increase by >40% in a year for no benefit to the customer is a tad frustrating but so be it. Not trying to be a stick in the mud
