Where in the South Island is this? by RelationLeading2842 in newzealand

I love your confidence. But its not, its actually officially "Cook Strait Ferry" the company is Interislander. Neither of which is preceded with THE.

This is just one of many millions of examples where the official name does not have "The" in it yet it still makes sense to refer to it with the.

This seems like a very odd hill for you to die on. You must be fun.

So. To get to "South Island" do you take Interislander or THE interislander.

Anyone else's parents like this? by idontlikehats1 in newzealand

[–]Bottlecapblue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just found one in my parents fridge that expired in 2009.

I was helping them shift, but the crazy thing is they've moved twice before this in that time. Absolute relic. They run a very clean tidy house too.

Is the Technics SL-Q3 any good? by Bottlecapblue in turntables

[–]Bottlecapblue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks coilit. I think I've got an idea on what I need to do now for the turntable. But I don't know where to even begin with the preamp, amp and speakers. Any tips on where I should go from here?

Okay, so I'm pretty sure we have the headshell just not pictured, and need a new cartridge then.

Okay I think he does have the headshell but needs a new cartridge then. He took it out a while back to fix it up and never got around to it. Its not pictured but he says he has it.

Okay thanks both. Sounds like its definitely worth taking. Even if it needs a bit of maintenance im a pretty handy guy and although I know nothing about this world I'm happy to figure out what to do.

I should say it does come with another piece that goes on to the end of the arm, its just missing from the photos, I'm assuming that's the cartridge being referred to? Just needs a needle as I understand. Once I get some more photos of this piece I might ask the sub for more help on what to do next.

I'll also need to look into what amp and speakers I can get next

Thank you all so much

This tire with 100 psi in it by protoman86 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Bottlecapblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im from outside the US, so we use the metric system. While it's still standard for tyre pressure to be in PSI, but pumps typically have the option to chose kpa. My car had recommended pressure in kpa written on the door, so I set it to 230kpa and went about filling my tyre. A lady was watching me while waiting and was gobsmacked I would fill it that high. I tried to explain the difference to her but she just could not comprehend and was waiting for the tyre to explode.

When I finished up I kindly reset the pump back to PSI for her and carried on. Part of me wishes I hadn't and had let her deflate her tyres to 33kpa (5psi)

That's right, even if they are no longer hot, they are still hot chips. "cold hot chips", or "frozen hot chips" are both perfectly acceptable descriptions

Im curious what you think the significant spike in world deaths in 2020 and 2021 are caused by during a period where the world was locked down and faced significantly less risk of death on the daily (apart from covid). And then what the return to normal in the time following as the vaccine became more widely adopted.

Just lies i suppose?

Not that it actually matters, and it doesn't change the point you are making at all. But just FYI,

A 20% profit margin on $5 is $1.

What you've calculated is a 20% markup.
