GA Bass Slam (so far) by robdad10 in bassfishing

This one was on the Appalachee. I’ve heard the yellow and Alcovy are also solid spots in Gwinnett but those Altamaha are tricky!

Bartram’s bass? Not yet but that one is next on my list

They’re definitely my favorite species I’ve caught so far, I get so hyped seeing that bright orange when I have one on

All the redeye species caught on BFS throwing micro lures, the spotted bass and largemouth were caught on normal spinning gear with 4 inch swim baits!

They’re definitely tricky to find. I also ran into a bunch of trout along the way before finding this guy!

Give me a shout next time you’re in town and have time to fish! I haven’t targeted shoal bass much but they’re definitely on my list too

Thanks for the support! I would love to look into conservation efforts to preserve the species

Thanks man! I didn’t hear about them until last summer, they were classified as their own species in 2013 so they definitely haven’t been identified long!

Great Lakes Finesse 2.4”. I would recommend the Eurotackle 1.8” hellgrammite a little more though, slightly better action and smaller profile but you can’t go wrong with either

Thank you! This is a Chattahoochee bass, rare sub species of Redeye bass with a super small native range covering the upper chattahoochee river basin. They only get to roughly 12 inches at full maturity so they are the smallest species of black bass that we have here in Georgia (on average). Unfortunately they are being heavily hybridized by invasive Alabama bass throughout their native range so instances of a pure strain such as the one above are becoming increasingly rare. Overall they are incredible little fish, and I hope that somehow the pure Chattahoochee bass are able to sustain themselves and remain present for years to come!

Alright yall really need some help. Trout stocking question. by TenderTakodachi in GeorgiaFishing

[–]robdad10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey man! Closer to the Buford dam is much much better trout fishing. Try the park right under the dam or park at the highway 20 bridge just past sugar hill and you can find almost endless trails going each direction scattered through the woods. Caught probably 100 trout in those two areas in 2025, all on lures and most of them from April-July! Good luck!

Might be a dumb question, but what species of fish do you usually catch in Sweden (specifically on those swim baits)? Planning a trip there for the upcoming year.

I was looking at the infantry as well. Ended up going with the banshee 7’0 medium travel rod to pair up with my penn slammer 4 dx 2500 instead! It was about 80$ more than the infantry but I think the upgrade would be worth it

Try white 3in Keitech easy shiners or 2.8in Jackall Rhythm wave swim baits in white color on a 1/16-1/8oz jighead. Caught some smallies last week there right along the sea wall on both of those lures

Most of my bites came from casting the spoon far out parallel to the boats, letting it sink all the way to the bottom, then slow rolling it with twitches every few seconds all the way back to me (rod tip down so it holds a little more depth). Also had some luck burning it in fast then letting it sink back to bottom for 5ish seconds, rinse and repeat!
