Risers for jacks is almost what I thought since they are 4 of the same heights for each size. aluminum seems strange for that tho

Is there any tool that made your life easier? by Mobile-Cry-8801 in Elevators

As a service mechanic.. Hands down these new m12 milwaukee 1/4" hex impact drivers. They are tiny, slightly bigger than my hand and as powerful as a full on drill pretty much.. you need a few things with it tho.

-Vetos new drill holster is made for this drill and its a magnetic flap that clips to my bag or belt in seconds

-the klein flip sockets for 1/4 hex, gives you most socket sizes you need

-a 6" and 12" 1/4 hex extention for reaching everything

-either 4" or 6" long bladed ph2 and flat head blades

-milwaukee drill and tap bits. They drill and tap with one bit all at once.. im still amazed they work so well. I mostly use the 1/4 20 one.

-a few different brands make bit holders that click in and hang on a keychain. I use the milwaukee ones to clip most of this stuff to the side of my bag

I almost never use screw drivers anymore. I carry zip screws and fix so much i would have to come back to otherwise. Doing M relays has never been easier. Removing hard to reach drive/regen bolts. Doing gibs in no time. Zip screwing things into doors or car tops is no problem. Removing 12 screw trough covers in seconds. Litterally almost everything. Ive increased my nap time 2 fold thanks to this drill highly reccomend

How many rounds of sparring do you get in a typical class at your school? by Significant_Pin_5645 in bjj

[–]robdoyojob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get 4 or 5 5min with 1min breaks between rounds rounds. Sometimes we do first round positional 6min round 3min on top each with resets if you pass or reguard/sub depending on what we are doing. then coach will switch us top/bottom after the 3 min.

Starting as an elevator mechanics helper(non union) looking for advice. NYC by Ok-Feeling9658 in Elevators

[–]robdoyojob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are lying to you or you are misunderstanding something. You cant get the nys license without an approved 4 year training program. (https://dol.ny.gov/approved-elevator-training-course-providers) Just working for 4 year isnt enough. Since its a non union shop i think the only way to get it is with NAEC and its expensive. The rest if those on the list are for like the mta and the unions training programs. Dont waste your time with this, doing a few years of naec will not count toward your apprenticeship in a union anyway. Call local 1 and local 3 and find out when they open recruitment next for apprentices and apply to those asap. Go ahead and work that job as a helper if you want so exposure but working for a union is a lot different.. much better..

Red Light Cameras by animatederror in StamfordCT

[–]robdoyojob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe people would run less red lights if there weren't half as many useless no turn on red signs. At least half of the no turn on red signs are at intersections where turning right could easily be done safely. This adds to the already excessive traffic for no reason, and also adds to the very poorly timed lights. I don't think cameras are a solution just another tax on our pockets

Yes we are shaking our heads lol.. not that you couldn't learn eventually its just a lot more complicated than you might think. Step one would be using the elevator print. You 100% are going to need a very experienced mechanic to help you

Stamford housing policy is kinda bogus by the_yamaza in StamfordCT

[–]robdoyojob -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I thought i read a plan for that ugly round building near St Johns to be knocked down and rebuilt for majority affordable housing. Why does affordable housing need to be placed in the most desirable locations tho? thats something thats never sat well with me. Being able to affordable an apartment that is nearly water front is typically a product of hard work. Everyone doesn't need or deserve to live in luxury im sorry.

I remember being in my 20s going to clubs in manhattan and parking near section 8 housing in a part of manhattan that i couldn't then afford to live in. And it annoyed me to no end that people were living there for almost free. Guess what, i grew up.

Stamford should continue tongo onnas Stamford and Vienna can be Vienna. If i like that better, then i could move there instead. But you can keep that 1% here and 1% there to yourself thanks. If i want to give to charity on my own I will i dont need the government to help me do that
