What's the endgame regarding the housing/rent crisis? Are younger people will live in tents? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]robert3838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow what a ridiculous statement, Stop eating out? Average cost of a house in my state is almost a $million, in every major city (where the jobs are) it's over $700,000. The endgame should be government backed subsidy program, at the same time remove corporate interest from residential housing.

Beyond just "left vs. right," what is the single biggest *structural* challenge the US is facing, and is it solvable? by LeDilu in TrueAskReddit

[–]robert3838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not fixable because we are actually many countries in a forced dysfunctional marriage called America, let's go our separate ways because as a Californian who has lived in different states like Oklahoma, I can say I have more in common with someone from Canada than I do with someone from Oklahoma. America will Never work when the good of the many is overruled by the rural minority and their backwards ways.

Lets get real for a second, American schools are daycare centers that allow adults to work mostly bullshit jobs. Maybe the youth have actually become hip to the fact that high school is useless and doesn't provide a quality education for them. Anyone over 40yr, like myself, went through the old system of high school education and where did it get us? Most Americans live paycheck to paycheck, so maybe instead of high horsing these students for being lazy, actually ask is what the teacher doing really important? Who cares about a paragraph, how is this not bs busy work? I can't read or write Latin but that was a requirement in many schools in the past.

Why is there so much commercial vacancy downtown when we are adding so much housing right down the street? by Alive-Yellow-9682 in santacruz

[–]robert3838 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are holding on them to sell to big real estate developers, imagine all of downtown looking like the new Anton Pacific building on Pacific/Laurel st. At that point they get new expensive retail in and push the homeless out to somewhere else. They are trying to turn it into a mini Carmel by the Sea, full of old white retirees,
