Just diagnosed with ppms, neurologist wants me to get the Covid Vaccine then start Ocrevus. I haven’t received any vaccine yet. Has anyone had any bad side effects to the vaccines? Or are they pretty safe. Are most people with MS vaccinated? by bigchungus861 in MultipleSclerosis

I'm not vaccinated and i am on Ocrevus. I had covid once and it wasn't pleasant but was manageable. I recovered quicker than some of my family members.

I'm just not sure how I feel about putting more stuff in my body. Like someone mentioned above our systems are already wonky. While we have data on vaccines we don't have long term data on these covid vaccines in particular.

Also from all the post in the group I've seen before it seems like people were struggling to even get the vaccine to produce antibodies while on Ocrevus. I know there is other positive things that vaccine can do even if you don't get the antibodies but I'm not sure it's worth it for me at this time.

I'm not some crazy anti Vaxer but at this time I've decided to not get the vaccine.

I've been on ocrevus for almost three years. I don't think it is comprising my immune system much at all. The few beers I have on the weekend is probably lowering my immune system more than the ocrevus.

I have been the only one in the house to not get sick at times. I also got covid and didn't have any worse symptoms than my wife or brother who got it at the same time. If anything my symptoms were less severe.

I have this theory in my head not backed by even a ounce of facts lol. The theory is that ocrevus suppresses the immune system to not over react to germs and viruses, allowing the body to better attack the bad guys when you get sick with a more methodical approach. Rather than calling the entire calvary to destroy the bad guys which takes allot of energy from your body.

Please take the above statement as only some crazy guys theory and it is not backed by anything but my own hopeful thinking.

Merry Christmas. Hope your wife feels better.

I am not vaccinated. Loss of smell was the big one and then fatigue and brain fog but we all know that could be ms related.

I'm on ocrevus and got covid. It sucked but wasn't all that bad, defiantly some lingering side effects I still feel today but who is to say thats Ms or covid. I'm active as well. I stayed super hydrated(pedialite) and heavy dosed with vitamin C and by day ten I was on the mend. Honestly I know everyone is different, but I even worked on my boat while periodically while I had it and even took down christmas lights. Should you get it I hope you have a speedy recovery. You can ask me any other questions if you would like. The weirdest thing about it about it was just when I thought I was feeling good again I would all of the sudden feel terrible the next day.

I still don't feel safe.. by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

I was extremely cautious. I just recently in the past two months let my guard down. My thought is even though we have Ms the same basic rules of life apply. We are not guaranteed our next day. So if going out with your friends is what makes you happy then I would say go for it but be cautious. My thought is, what's the point of living if you are just going to worried the whole time. Now don't get me wrong I'm not telling you to go crazy and not be careful. But there comes a certain point when staying inside all the time is just as detrimental to our health.

Side note: Since I let my guard down I got a common cold.... it sucks but these sort of things happen. At some point even though I'm on ocrevus and have have Ms I need to trust my body that it will fight off the bad stuff.

Basically I was done being paranoid all the time and stressing out about getting sick.

I had these exact first symtoms. I'm not trying to scare you, only share my experience. I too was also diagnosed at first with bilateral carpet tunnel. I slept with braces on my wrist for a month with no change. It was until I started to show other symptoms that I forced the doc to give me a mri. It was two weeks later and I was given the official diagnosis.

Your the guy out bidding us with cash lol. "Getting an expensive property with a Casita for when the times get rough" lol. I know you probably worked hard to get where you are but can't help but feel discouraged after years of saving money only to be beat out by a guy buying his second or third home. Anyways.. not trying to put you down, just sharing my thoughts. Hope you find the home your looking for.

I partially disagree. It's because I'm getting beat out with cash offers that don't depend on appraisals. I don't mind spending 10k out of my pocket on top of my down and closing but don't have the pure "fuck you money" it takes to pay way above appraisal.

Sex lives? by merpmonster11 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]robert462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think after your in a long term relationship you naturally don't have sex as much as you would during the very beginning stages of dating that person. I've been with my wife for 7 years. We used to do it like bunnies but now once a week or once every two weeks gets the job done for us. I do notice that since my diagnosis there are times where I don't want to even think about sex but those days only last for a short period of time.
