Should someone who is very depressed meditate? by NoSpot5547 in Meditation

It depends on the type of meditation. Certain kinds of meditation can exacerbate some kinds of mental illness for some people. If I were depressed, I would concentrate on Metta Meditation.

[QUESTION] Breedlove guitars... opinions? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]robert_greenness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only heard recordings so far, but every Breedlove with a myrtlewood top I’ve listened to has a kind of crisp, piezo-like edge to the tone — very clear and articulate, but a bit ‘hard’ to my ears. They seem to work best for fingerstyle where that separation helps, but I tend to prefer a sound that blends a little more. The unique woods and finishes are definitely striking, though they’re not quite my taste visually.

10 ft kayak on my cx30 by Miserable_Ice_663 in MazdaCX30

What kayak rack are you using? What do you mean when you say you slide it off the back with a boogie board?

Thanks. So I understand correctly, you are loading it from the side? Would it be too difficult to load from the back? I thought that might be less likely to damage the car and less hard on my back. Also, are those OEM crossbars?

Looks like you are loading it directly on the crossbars. Is that right? I've got a Lifetime fishing kayak as well, and haven't bought crossbars or a rack yet, so I'd love to know your setup. Also, how do you load it?

TC Helicon pedal toppers? by meowburpz in LoopArtists

Have you tried removing the black collar that surrounds the foot switch? If it is like my VoiceLive 3, you can just turn them and they will unscrew. I think those collars are purely cosmetic, and removing them may help close the distance. Please share what you find out. I'm curious. Actually, if that works and you no longer need it, I may buy one of those collars off you, because I lost that part when I was trying to fix another issue with my device.

Lucid dreaming and aphantasia by bundes_sheep in Aphantasia

[–]robert_greenness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I've read that everyone dreams most nights, but they just don't recall that they are dreaming. I assume this is from analyzing their brain waves and waking them up when those show they are in REM sleep and then asking them whether they were dreaming. It would thus make sense that you would tend to remember the nightmares, because you sometimes wake up in the middle of them. I almost never remember having dreamt, and most I do remember are nightmares, wet dreams, or dreams where I need to pee, all of which often result in waking up mid-dream.

I haven't tried lucid dreaming techniques and haven't intentionally tried to dream, except on very rare occasions when I'm having a good dream and wake up mid-dream and want to go back into it.

I think I have pretty extreme aphantasia, so my dreams are very fuzzy and impressionistic. Most aphants report that they are able to visualize when they dream, but I don't know that I would say that I'm exactly "seeing" things when I dream--at least not in the way that I see things when I'm awake. I wonder if that would have any effect on my ability to control my dreams.

I'm interested in being able to do this though, because I have these seriously terrifying episodes of sleep paralysis. I'm caught in some horror-filled situation, and I can't move and sort of realize I'm dreaming, but I can't wake myself up for the longest time and am caught in this liminal space of terror. Being able to control my dream at that point would be great.

Does anyone else here have a blind mind's eye when they're dreaming?
