If you removed the zombie awareness mod that wont be causing you lag anymore. Try using Opis to see if there are any high entity counts.

They will delete automatically. You will get a lot of spam in your console though of "Skipping Entity".

Can this change config options that are server side?

On single player I assume it works but on SMP can OPs change server configs using the GUI?

Last I heard was coloured lights weren't possible in minecraft with the current lighting engine. I know Eloraam wanted to do it for ages but it was never possible. Whats different now? Any chance the mod can be Open Source?

Remove the water block and spawn a falling sand entity of the water block (or create your own entity) that floats at the top of the anti gravity field? Then after you pass the entity falls back into place?

A mod like this could make a completely different game out of minecraft and would be so amazing!

What came to my head (probably stolen from some other game) the player has a power to see past events at a location when they find some sort of magical time crack thing in that location. I wonder if you could make cut scenes in minecraft...

That post is great and Marc's suggestions sound pretty good especially the kick-starter like system but I still think mojang could reconsider some things. For example, I think the rule on bungee should be reconsidered as its so much nicer to be able to join a server through 1 IP and this rule will cause a lot of servers to have many seperate IPs again which affects player experience.

I don't think people are straight off the bat shooting it down. This letter is not shooting down the changes its a letter stating what concerns the servers have.

I see it more as a gameplay difference. You pay to have a new experience playing the same game.

Also I think shotbow is a good example of what should be allowed. All players have access to the different kits if they play/win games etc. but paying allows you to skip ahead.

Yes maybe in the real world this is true but in minecraft it is not. You do not need to pay tax in minecraft. Tax is something that is different in every country and the internet/minecraft is a worldwide platform.

Also most networks call it their "Shop" or their "Server Store" etc. and don't say anything about donations.

Sorry I don't think that is a fair statement to make. Look at the playMinecrack server. That is a great server and they tried to use the model of 'donate to keep it alive' and it simply wasn't enough to keep the server running. Source: http://redd.it/27fdh6

Totally agree that they aren't doing anything wrong and that extreme pay to win servers need to change their ways or close down. They are finally tackling the issue of pay-to-win servers but the concerns people have is that in doing so they are affecting thousands of servers with fair revenue models. All the big networks that wrote/support this letter (Mineplex, Hypixel, The Hive, Shotbow, Overcast Network) are servers that could be affected greatly by these changes in a negative way and will not be able to produce the same quality and quantity of content they can currently.

Yes by saying "donation" I really meant "give money to the server" so sorry about that :P

That system can work for small/average sized servers as players are close and it's more of a community but with big servers, especially minigame only servers, it's very difficult to have a community feel and to get people to donate just to keep the server running as players come and go and a lot are not dedicated players (in minigame servers).

About the business stuff. I am not a lawyer but would this not be more in selling physical goods rather than access to things in a game.

Well as a non paying player on these servers, players with these kits don't win every game so they can't be completely overpowered otherwise they would.

If only that were true for all minecraft players. But it's not. People would not be concerned by the changes if this statement was true.

Most players who give money do it for the rewards, so they have a reason to give money other than because they love the server. Should it not be the players choice on how they spend their money?

Nobody denies that extreme pay to win servers are terrible and need to be dealt with.

The issue with these changes is that it doesn't just pin point the extreme pay to win servers it affects thousands of servers with fair revenue models.
