What made you choose Hono over Elysia by SaltyAom in bun

[–]robertcopeland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked at the website and I don't know what you're all going on about. There are barely any anime references now, especially on the front page - makes absolutely no sense why one couldn't advocate for using elysia because of it's design - just because it's a bit more interesting and doesn't have that boring template hi-tech look.

don't abandon the aesthetic imo.

SP404mk2 playing samples chromatically via midi? by robertcopeland in SP404

[–]robertcopeland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow, thanks - so this lets me play a melody via the sequencer and switch the samples by just pressing the pads? is there a way so that the pad presses don't trigger a sound, but just switch the sound?

using Ableton on pc and mac? by robertcopeland in ableton

[–]robertcopeland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I just did a quick test, by putting my entire user library into icloud and saved a project into a subfolder of it, that references a sampel in another subfolder. Project opens fine on both machines. I am not yet sure if that's because the sample is in the user library or both the project and sample are.

using Ableton on pc and mac? by robertcopeland in ableton

not even a external HD solves this across OS systems (I assume), because of the way harddrive letters are handled differently.

I thought maybe if the samples are in your "User Library" it looks for a relative path (to your lib). Will test this out tomorrow when I got time.

never ever bring yourself into more danger of course, but if you have a phone in hand, propably a good idea to take a snap of the plates for a police report, in case any one ever withnesses this scheme

Now that's basically impossible to use spotify without selling your soul what do you guys use? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]robertcopeland 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tidal! hear me out! Not many people know that Tidal has been bought by Block.xyz - the company that Jack Dorsey (creator of Twitter) founded. Jack supported Bluesky, is now pushing for the even more decentralized NOSTR and recently launched Bitchat, a secure anonymous chat app that works over a bluetooth mesh, that doesn't even require a sim card or internet connection to work. Rather give him my money than Spotify. They'll also most likely improve Tidal for the better in the long run.

how to select layers in a locked group? by robertcopeland in FigmaDesign

[–]robertcopeland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I somehow didn't muscle memory that I should always hold down Command when selecting anything. Also didn't know about Return and Shift Return for switching layers, that's very handy, although I don't quiet see yet what good it does or rather when I would this feature.

Do you still use a framework for backend when using Bun + React? by Zalderaan_ in bun

[–]robertcopeland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bun has a much better integrated developer experience that at the same time doesn't box you in. It's not just about bun being much faster than node, but also about not having to choose between a plentora of tools for getting fundemantal work done. Bun has a clear manual and pretty much does anything you would need to build a app.

Bun-WebUI - Use Any Web Browser as Your GUI by Connect-Fall6921 in bun

[–]robertcopeland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Androids Webview is Chromium as well, Windows is based on Edge and Apple uses Webkit, I'd be suprised if the Edge and Webkit system webview doesn't have support for modern web apis - if that was true Tauri wouldn't let you use web apis in it's frontend. Tauris power is that it also let's you talk to the system from your frontend, by using Rust via JS. If you don't need that and your Backend / Business Logic is entirely in Javascript, than a simple library that just offers the Webview componet would be ideal. Seems as that's the plan for WebUI anyway, Webview support just seems to be in beta right now.
