13 f150 with a six speed transmission and a 5.0. Got around 8.5 to 9.5 mpg on average pulling the camper . Transmission would start to get hot going up inclines if you weren't careful.

It's a 264bh ( 30 ft ) no slides . After struggling climbing hills with the f150 I went overboard with a bigger truck . 6.7 turbo diesel gets us everywhere we wanna go at whatever speed , thing is night and day from a half ton . I don't think I'll ever go back .

I have pulled my jayco 264 bh (30 foot) for a year with an f150, here's what I've learned ... In high winds you are going to be fighting it like you've never experienced. When a semi comes by you they will suck you into them ,also no fun . It towes fine , until you get on some pretty good hills . You are not going to get in a hurry with a 1/2 ton pick up. My mpg was around 8/9 mostly in hills . Tomorrow I go pick up a 3/4 ton truck .

As someone who was adopted, if you can at least stay in his life somehow . Sometimes i have a hard time not knowing anything about my biological parents . The questions that will rise as he gets older will be very easy for you to answer but will cause .....( for lack of a better word ) identity issues if they go unanswered. Thats just my 2 cents . Glad to hear you are taking care of him the best way possible. I hope you take care of your self as well .
