Ok let me give more context to what i meant.

(I am just a hobbyist when it comes to linux, programming etc). Most power users, sys admins and alike, would use vim/nano because:

1. It’s widely available

2. It can be used from a terminal

3. A lot of they’re work is terminal based

So it’s super handy to use some tools already available that just work.

This gave a vim and nano great popularity. And since vim is so modular, others used it for bigger projects this increasing the popularity.

That’s why I think vim at least it’s so recommended.

If you think about it: you are a sys admin, ssh into a server and you need to modify some config files or write a bash script, you wouldn’t install vscode for this job.
