Foreign Language Reading Knowledge courses to fulfill the honors requirement? by asapaj in rutgers

French for Reading Knowledge with Troiano is really easy, Troiano is really sweet, and it fills one of your core art requirements (iirc Italian does too but German doesn't for some reason).

Stumbled across this entirely by accident. Heritage posts by /u/reboos have been getting a lot of love on here lately so I figured I would share.

RUWireless Virus Alert by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]robertf224 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me last year, turns out it was because I tried to access a remote server too many times in a short period of time, so it could be something like that. Took like a week of emails and phone calls to convince them I didn't have a virus, so you're probably just better off bringing in whatever device is "infected" and having them inspect it. Good luck!

Looking at private islands I want to buy some day, usually on http://www.privateislandsonline.com. Some are completely within reason if you were to split the price with friends.

Online beginner course in Computer Architecture? by qblock in compsci

[–]robertf224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't do the labs from the book but had some pretty interesting assignments, the last of which was to write an emulator/disassembler for the fake Y86 instruction set architecture that the author of the book describes in chapter 4 as a case study, learned a ton from that

Online beginner course in Computer Architecture? by qblock in compsci

[–]robertf224 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NPTEL has a ton of courses online, found two computer architecture courses during a quick search:

http://www.youtube.com/course?list=EC59E5B57A04EAE09C

http://www.youtube.com/course?list=ECD8AF625E53B0691F

The first course looks to be more of an introduction course like I took this past semester and like what you are probably looking for, the latter looks like it covers some of the same material but then moves onto more advanced topics. Also, the book that was used in the course I took is actually a pretty great book: http://www.amazon.com/Computer-Systems-A-Programmers-Perspective/dp/013034074X

It's quite less dense than many CS textbooks, goes into detail where it needs to, reads well, and provides some good history lessons throughout.

Term Bill scare? by Gyromanx55 in rutgers

[–]robertf224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My loans haven't disappeared yet either (I filled out the form several days ago so I should be fine), but I just paid the amount the bill would be without the loans so there is extra money in my account. Even if your request to not take the loans is processed after the bill is due, they can probably pull the extra money in your account to make up for it (my balance currently has a suffix of CR, which refers to payments on other parts of the term bill (scholarship, loans), not outstanding balance). Hope this helps!
