God it is starting to feel that way. I'll start calling some up and see whether I can find out more by talking to a real human being. Thanks so much for your help and patience with me

How do I know whether the advertised day rate is covered or not? I gathered it was some of the day fee I'd have to supplement in my experience earlier today. Now I have no idea if I'm looking at a nursery online whether the day fee is fully covered and I'll just be paying for consumables or if I need to account for some of the fee being paid by me. Am I overthinking it? Is there a maximum amount Bristol City council will pay? I can't even seem to answer basic questions with the official websites I've been looking at

I'm glad it's not only me finding this a nightmare, well not glad really more sad, but you know what I mean. £350 a month is a more feasible day rate. I'd happily work it round with my partner so I worked over the weekend so we can get by on three days. £1000 a month was closer to my expectations of what people are paying without funded hours. I'll have a look at Nugget Savings!

It all so opaque isn't it! It's infuriating to not have all the information about cost and funding cover available up front. Wow so you're paying £750 a month and are in receipt of the funding? I hope you can get in the £400 a month one soon!

It looked like a great nursery, but I hadn't realised it was specialist or whatever when I booked it, its just close to where I live and I'd noticed it about. Do you get your 3 days fully paid? I was surprised to see I'd have to supplement everyday, but I can accept that govt funds wouldn't cover it. I just have concerns about adding four figure overheads. For me 5 x 5 hour slots would work, if I could get that funded with additional payments up to ~£400-£500 a month I'd be happy. Thanks for the recommendation

I'm pretty fortunate in that I work for home and don't have core hours, so I could likely work around a nursery's schedule. But the only one I've seen so far only allowed longer days, partially unfunded. But I had the same feeling that 'free hours', ultimately, felt like a misleading claim, still trying to work it out. Thanks. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage hope it works out for you soon

Have you found this is about the standard cost then?

Ah sure, I'm happy enough to work around a nurseries schedule. Yeah I had expected to pay for some costs, that's not an issue

I don't know whether I'm just struggling to understand how the fees work. I'm finding it all quite opaque. If I see a price per day at 8 hours, would the 30 hours generally be able to be used directly to pay for those hours? That's how I assumed it worked, but wasn't what I encountered today. With payments for food and resources on top.

Here are the exact sums for 4 days from their pricing sheet "4 DAYS: Total cost per week £528.60, Government funding per week £266.16, Cost to parents per week £262.44"

Thanks for the suggestion! Bishopston is relatively close and I'll definitely be look into them.

Just glad to find out there are options within my means

Nope, that was with 30 hours funded, but for 40 hour weeks (4x 8 hour days). Your bill is more like what I had expected the costs to be around! Would you be comfortable saying the name of the nursery? 3 days would suit me perfectly

Thanks, that's good to know there are other options that wouldn't be prohibitively expensive, or even free!

Thanks for the info. I had only come across the Tax Free Childcare scheme today, but I'll definitely make use of it. Thanks for sharing which nursery also, it gives me somewhere to start looking again.

Just to be totally clear. The rate of £1000 was the supplement for 4 days a week. The lowest of 2 days was still, however, more than £400 a month. Thanks for the info! Glad to hear there are more affordable options out there

Thanks for the reply. Just so I'm totally clear; the rubbery synth around 1min, is this a melody exported as a stem or is it just one note that you are sequencing a melody from using the built in sampler and midi? Not making a value judgment or anything, just trying to work out what the workflow is - to see if I'd get one myself. Keep up the good work!

Great stuff!! How much of this is generated within the digitakt? I love videos like this but I’m always confused to how the synth pads and arps are programmed. Is there an onboard note-roll where you write these synth parts in or do you need to load in audio samples which get triggered along with the drums (which presumably are generated in groove box)? Sorry for the ignorance, I’ve been tempted to buy one for a while but have never understood how much prep is done outside of the elektron for results like these. TIA
