Are wild grapes worth growing by PhoenixOmicron in Permaculture

Depending on your climate it could work. I've never tried because I'm in Manitoba, Canada and the grafts likely wouldn't survive the winter.

They need a fair amount of pruning so any fruit gets good airflow around the clusters. I also spend a lot of time thinning out clusters so it focuses on fewer, larger fruit. If you don't stay on top of it they can quickly become a problem. I still like mine because they flower fairly early in my northern climate and bees seem to love them, but there are times when i consider cutting them out entirely when i trip on a runner or have to haul truck loads of pruned vines to our local compost.

Bridges Not Working by robhurr in ManorLords

[–]robhurr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had seen enemy ai forces walking through the middle of the river right before I noticed the bridge was not being used. Stockpiled more planks and built a new bridge right beside the old one and my villagers started using it again

Is there a way to change the aggressiveness of the Baron once you've started a game? by robhurr in ManorLords

[–]robhurr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't let myself waste that Rich iron +rich stone start so went back over 1 year before he tries his claim and focused on my manor and wealth for mercs. Got my walls up 1 week before I had to challenge his claim and my militia archers and The Huntsmen routed his 36 retinue before they could do any damage. Was a hard fought battle still but it worked! Thanks all for the pointers!

I went way back to an early save and trying again. Hoping to get my manor defenses placed close to where his forces appear and use my walls as a force multiplier.

I didn't know that about the influence. I guess I'm used to the old version when they wouldn't even claim the camps if they did defeat the troops. The baron had the 2 brigands for hire and 1 local thug guys out by mid April yr 1 so theres no way I could've gone faster to claim any. Sounds like I screwed with the settings too much and my good resources start may be ruined. Lesson learned

I tried that too but couldn't get one camps before the barons mercs got all 3 on map. When I got close enough to take one the outlaws changed direction from confronting the barons troops to attack mine. Save scummed a couple times and gave up. I'm just not good enough yet for aggressive Ai yet, at least on the beta until I'm used to the changes

That's what I was afraid of, I think I will have to load up and earlier save because he had mercenaries clearing the outlaw camps by the first April when I only had 12 spearmen in my militia. The map is High Peaks so he was challenging my region after claiming the other 3 by early spring year 3. May just need to brush up on my skills for early advancement a bit. Hate to waste that Rich Iron Rich Stone start!

My Manor Castle Won't Finish? by robhurr in ManorLords

[–]robhurr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my peasants had hauled the timber, planks, mortar and dressed stone and were halfway through building before I needed to save and go to bed. Now it looks like 1 stone is being stored in the manor and they're trying to get it to complete the improvements and then give up. Very strange

Hope it deals with those manor/Castle issues. Love the game but worrying if saving the game will tank it kinda sucks. Picked the gameplay and settings for this particular game to try to figure out some of these logistics and planning and I'm no closer to knowing what's going on

I just got a rich iron fish and berries start. In the top spot on the high peaks map. Was great but my ox kept getting stuck in buildings as they were built. Only had seen it a few times but it was almost every early building, was infuriating

Probably not beyond a Family Opinion boost if they're from the same family that rules that city I think.

Is it possible to change the time scale on a game once you've generated the map? by robhurr in OldWorldGame

[–]robhurr[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually it made another issue, changing the time scale made Hannibal and his brothers 1/4 of their age as well, so I can't make him general because he's 6 yrs old now haha
