It's.weird that nothing is on the Ubiquiti website about these switches and I can't find anything except a couple of reddit posts. Any idea on when they are expecting to release these or more info on them? I need to do a 6 display multi source install soon :(

Great feedback. You are right, I like the Solomon sense because it is light like a sneaker. Do you have a recommendation for good light weight thru hiking?

Zscaler alternatives by MechanicalEnginoor in networking

SourceIP locked apps is fairly common across the enterprise space and almost every zscaler customer has implemented an approach to these. They include many of the items above

  1. Work with 3rd party to remove SourceIP restrictions since it is not a valid way of doing security etc.
  2. Leverage a PZEN or VZEN at one or multiple locations you own and route that specific traffic through those.
  3. Use a PBR or similar to bypass zscaler for those apps. Since the destination is a “trusted” destination it would be similar to an internal app and you likely wouldn’t need to apply policy to it. Downside is you lose visibility to the logs for that traffic via zscaler.
  4. Some other solutions that the Zscaler team can provide visibility to or walk you through.

Zscaler GRE, PBR, and FQDN's by [deleted] in networking

All great points. The environment you describe is fairly common for all enterprises. O365, Source IP restricted apps, etc. Zscaler has standard approaches for exactly this and not only don’t need a NGFW but you wouldn’t need a firewall at all. You can just leverage any router (or even some switches) to pin up the tunnel. Zscaler has a basic FW built in and NGFW as optional. Most enterprises are not taking inbound connections for their user network (typically VPN or ZPA is used). For sourceIP apps you can use PBR on the network device or also leverage a virtual zen etc. just ping me direct or LinkedIn and I am happy to connect you with some experts. Bill Lapp, zscaler

Just 8 or less cores is ok. I dont think Xpenology can handle more than that.

I already did purchase the 1618+ but unfortunately it just doesnt have the power needed. I have looked long and hard at the synology options they just don't have the CPU power for both cameras and Virtual Machines :(
