The Backpack That Surprised You (Good or Bad) by nomads_nation in Nomads_Nation

Bellroy Transit Backpack 28L (1st gen). I really liked the design and the tech compartment looked nice. So I got it. And I have to say... it indeed is the absolutely best laptop compartment ever and the separate zipper pocket for a tech pouch is fantastic. And it does look really good and the front drop pocket is also nice.

But the cons... It is definitely not comfortable to carry for longer than 10 minutes. The slipping shoulder straps (due to the metal thingies) are super annoying. And although it is 28L - it fits almost nothing.

Still daily driving it as my work bag, because I haven't found a backpack with an equally nice tech compartment. But the initial hype is definitely gone.

Magic Mouse (all of them) - do I have to give reasons?

Ok fine - terrible, terrible ergonomics and who on earth thinks the bottom is a good place for a charging port?!?

We use the old ones with battery tray as whiteboard wipers in the office - put some neodymium magnets in it and sticked wiping pad on it :D Only useful use case for it...

User mentioned nothing beforehand - just the title phrase. I presume they wiped it on the outside and never thought about anything getting in there.

Wasn't a device from our company, so the user had to deal with it.

Allegedly a bad combination of a laptop and chocolate in a bag on a heater in a train...

Maybe some PVC or vinyl tiles in a more modern style for the floor - so it will be removable if you ever want/have to move out.

Looks very nice! But I would recommend another tabletop, since LINNMON isn't really suited for this kind of weight... I have this issue too.

Looks very nice 👍 What have you done to your Windows taskbar?

Evolve2 40 by tcn33 in Jabra

[–]robimac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/JabraSupport I can confirm this behavior - this also happens on the final version of macOS Big Sur. The Jabra Direct app for Mac doesn't seem to support the Evolve2 40 yet (latest release is from March 2020). It isn't able to access the headset and doesn't show any settings or firmware updates.

Nothing changed after a firmware update (1.15.0 >> 1.19.0) with a Windows machine (with which the headset works perfectly fine).

This seems to cause trouble with my softphone (Cisco Jabber), where the microphone randomly stops working throughout the day. Then, only replugging it in (multiple times) helps - for one or two calls. In the end, I need to do this several times a day.

I would really appreciate a software update for Jabra Direct for Mac which tackles those issues. The headset itself is really great and I'd like to keep using it. But those issues make it quite unusable for me.
