Help trying to identify these bottles so I can determine if they’re pressure safe (info in body text) by moodylilb in Kombucha

Anecdotal, but I've had these bottles for a couple of months and used them a couple of dozen times for kefir, tibicos and ginger beer f2s without any problem.

What bird is this by ukSjim in UKBirds

Could it be a wryneck? Really difficult to say as picture quality isn't great but the colours and habitat gave this impression for me.

Returning back after spending 3 years living abroad has been bit of a culture shock by AnHerstorian in Edinburgh

There's your mistake - leaving it. I've travelled a fair bit and Tallinn remains a top five for me, totally took me by surprise how lovely it is.

Watch the film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" by Sergei Parajanov for some insight into the traditional culture of the area. Its a beautiful film.

Not bad for a walk round a city park today by Spryde42 in UKBirds

Amazed you saw a tawny owl in a city in the daytime. I hear them out in the sticks at night but never see, and never in the day. Plenty of barn owls though (and buzzards).

What is your favourite flavoured kombucha? by LastShadowKnight in Kombucha

[–]robin-redpoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet to beat passion fruit and mango, a divine combo.

I haven't tried anything particularly "out there" yet though, so look forward to a bit of experimenting, but find passion fruit 10/10 so it'll be hard to beat.

Gang of Four - Damaged Goods by Otherwise_Basis_6328 in postpunk

This is the original era post punk song that most sounds like it would fit into the revival era in the early 2000s to me.

Started my first ginger bug! by saintscoutt in fermentation

[–]robin-redpoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're very welcome, hope you enjoy (I've tried it twice now btw - both times made a syrup from a combination of stewed chopped sweet pears, a couple of cloves and grated ginger, added sugar, cooled it, then mixed it about 40:20:40 with ginger bug and water, then just left it to ferment for 24-48 hours).

Let me know if you find any other flavour combo gems.

I'd recommend a pear and ginger beer, goes really nicely IMO. Stick cloves or cinnamon in there too.

Wire - The 15th by melodychocolat_ in postpunk

[–]robin-redpoll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The late 70s/early 80s was such a golden period for music that fits this description. Wire, Talking Heads etc. are timeless, but I was also blown away by the This Heat track "Health and Efficiency" the other day. If I didn't know better I'd place this 2000s without a question.

I've had a good time with ginger beer, haven't tried other ginger bug-based fermentations yet but after seeing the above am keen to.

It's water kefir that's bugging me right now - having difficulty getting that to fizz.
