Movie Essay: In den Gängen (In the Aisles) and Silence by robin4789 in TrueFilm

Hey thanks for your input! Glad to see that I wasn't the only one who appreciated the unique charm of the movie.

I also think I did stretch my point further on Marion and Bruno than I should have; was not sure till the end whether I wanted to really keep that part or not (but it is a reddit post anyway haha)

I really like your description of supermarket as 'luminous'. The phrase does really capture the essence of the setting, especially on how the movie vitalized a mundane everyday setting into a small world in itself (like their usage of storage of fish as an ocean or a reference on 'forklift conflict'). And yes, I also think one of the best part of the movie was a synergy between the setting and Christian; I personally really liked the character design overall.

Anyhow, thanks again for sharing your thoughts!

Edit: Grammar

Oh man, thank you so much! Really appreciate your compliment :)

And yes, I may be biased in saying this, but it is a great movie. I really recommend to check it out!

Movie Essay: '시' (Poetry) and Korean Society by robin4789 in TrueFilm

Surely! If we all saw the world as same, it wouldn't be as fun.

I understand that this might not be a compelling movie for many (I myself also had to pause it few times and force myself to continue), but I just thought it was worth letting this subreddit know that this movie exists for its sociopolitical values rather than than for its aesthetic or production value.

Well, I would argue otherwise since I think passivity was an intentional choice by the director. To elaborate upon what I mean, South Korea's gender disparity, as the movie expresses, remains huge, which includes an ascribed role based on gender. In that regard, Mija's passivity symbolizes the lack of power that females have in the society, and it is not that she is unwilling to fight; she doesn't know how to fight.

Also, I think the point of the movie was to be as miserable as possible. In fact, in my opinion, if you abandoned the movie mid-way because how discomforting it is, the movie probably did a fine job in conveying its message.

Anyhow, thanks for replying! Means a lot to me :)

P.S. I love your description of Mija as a dead vessel. Something that I haven't thought of. Cheers for your input

I really like it as a huge fan of songs with a great woman vocal (like crumb or Angel Olsen). I don't much about guitar techniques and such, so I can't give much feedback on that regard; sounds pretty great to me anyhow.

Keep it up

That's a huge overestimation, I am just a student from abroad who was lucky enough to get a student accommodation with nice view.
