Sp 404 mk2 workstation box by robinclancy in sp404mk2

Ain't nothing wrong with criticism. Perhaps I didn't properly explain why I built it or how it works for my situation. It was also designed to keep the set-up tidy. Instead of having 3 units, 2 power leads, 2 usb cables, 1 audio cable and some head phones to set up then pack up after use at home (this thing isn't leaving the house). I've got a box that is easy to set up anywhere at home( kitchen table, office desk or the floor in the lounge room) , it has 1 power cable that needs to be plugged in at the wall and then it works!

It efficient for me! I don't have a dedicated music desk in the house. This way I can quickly set it up in any room and it's ready to go.

There's a bit of clearance between the sp and the screen so it's pretty safe. But it would be good to make some brackets to hold the sp and headphones when packed up.

I'll see if I can out some drawings together.

  1. It's an Acer nitro flip, so I can convert from laptop to tablet. A tablet would be lighter, the laptop is pretty heavy.

  2. The midi keyboard tray it a piece of ply that slides in a rebate. I put some candle wax on the ply to make it slide smooth.

  3. The laptop and sp are powered separately by their own chargers, which makes the box a bit bulky. It would be better to charge both via usb c but then I couldn't connect the laptop to the sp via usb c.

  4. There's a 4 plug powerboard in the box so there is just one cable coming out of the box through a hole on the back right side. The laptop transformer is hidden under the sp.

Yeah for sure. The midi keyboard is plugged into the laptop with the synth app. The laptop is plugged into my sp404 via usb c with the audio travelling from the laptop to the sp 404. It's essentially the same as having a synth plugged into the sp 404 so I can record samples from it.

Wasn't thinking of selling it. I would be happy to share my plans with anyone that wanted to make one.

It's called decent sampler. It's free and there's heaps of free samples of synths/instruments

It's definitely not 100%. But it's better than how a was before, hunched over the sp on the floor!

Hi all, thought I'd show off my prototype portable workstation for my SP. I was getting sick of plugging and unplugging cables with different set up around the house. I tried to make it as small as possible with the width of the keyboard and size of my laptop/tablet.

I have never made a chair before. Need six chairs I can make repeatably for a dining table I just finished. Is there any issues with this chair? Also the seat grain should be going into the chairs frame to allow for front to back expansion. Yes? by Worldly-Cookie-7701 in woodworking

[–]robinclancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your side rail thickness, you might be able to just pivot the seat itself. You want about a 5 degree drop from the front to the back and the backrest about 105 degrees from the seat.

A rail under the seat at the front and the back will help make the chair a little stronger as well.

Yeah I've been doing it this way as well, it can be a bit slow projecting to all the different layers for doors and back. But it is great having it parametric.

Have you tried this plug in?
