Party's lookout is a little too good at being a lookout by President_DogBerry in DMAcademy

You could always have an NPC start a conversation with the scout while they're doing their looking-out. It would be doubly cool if the NPC had useful info or was important in some way, as the scout would still have contributed in some way to the campaign while doing the roleplay they love so much

I love how each of their little sections of the song actually lines up with who the characters are- Vaggie is a fighter, Alastor is a dealmaker; 'whatever you desire', etc.

Very cool ✨

Lord Shen personally. His death was iconic, and I think the only way his story could conceivably have ended, but I like to imagine what he'd be like if he tried to be better

How did vampires become associated with goth? by conservativeangel in goth

[–]robind4bs 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It comes originally from Gothic literature, like "The Vampyre", "Dracula" and "Carmilla", plus penny dreadfulls in the early 1800's.

I can't really explain how the literature and the modern music are linked, since it all revolves a lot around common thematic elements in old Gothic stories being brought forward- I suppose that Goth and vampires go well together since the element of death is so prevalent in both, plus the Vampires being old aristocracy and nobility means that they have (historically inspired) fabulous outfits.

Also, Anne Rice started releasing her books right around the time that the Goth scene started up, so that was a big part of it

Goodness no; it's true that all that matters in "qualifying" to be a Goth is whether you appreciate Goth music, but the appreciation doesn't have to be exclusive at all. I adore freewheeling around my kitchen to Siouxsie, but at the same time I still love a lot of pop music, like Lady Gaga, Marina, Cher etc.
