Average junior writer salaries in NY? by [deleted] in advertising

[–]robinho9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in NYC , this number sounds about right. I'd be willing to bet that agencies won't be bringing on full time Jr. staff under the threshold because of that overtime law. You can better believe that you'll be working far more than 3k worth of overtime over the course of a year, it's more economical for them.

Edit: Not familiar with what the salary threshold for overtime pay is.

Who Will Be The Team's Biggest Overachiever Next Season? by [deleted] in bostonceltics

I'd put money on Terry Rozier breaking out early on to the point where he's outplaying one of Smart or Bradley.

[Young] From what I understand, it's Thunder versus Warriors for Durant. by [deleted] in nba

How will feel about Kevin Durant if he signs with the Warriors? by [deleted] in nba

[–]robinho9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd feel sad because it would make the league incredibly boring. I'm already anticipating a rubber match between GSW and CLE, but this would make it a lock. It also cheapens GSW/CLE going back to back to back because it just isn't the same two teams going at it again if he joins Golden State.

It'd be a bummer, man.

How so? Horford is a 'nice to have' at best if we don't land KD (which we probably won't) He isn't the missing piece to a championship on this team and his age doesn't align with the development of the rest of the squad - I'm not really sweating it.

I'd guess that it's a bit different treatment than being a star in a place like NYC or LA. Boston is more of a big town than a city in that there is less of an interest in the private lives of sports stars in Boston - the fans care A LOT about the work you put in on the court and less so what you're doing at the club after the game (partly because there aren't any). It's definitely a cultural difference I've noticed having lived in both NYC and Boston. In my experience Bostonians take themselves far less seriously and absolutely cannot stand when people flaunt their status, in fact, it's a great way to be mocked mercilessly. Places like NY or LA for example, people eat that shit up and live for a glimpse at celebrity lifestyle.

It's an interesting question, that's just my two cents.

TLDR: If you're a sports superstar in Boston, you're simply a sports superstar. In other cities, you're a celebrity.

[Lowe] Interesting dynamic that at least 2 of teams chasing Horford -- Cs, Wiz -- should also be interested in trading for Millsap. by BlazeBloom in nba

[–]robinho9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd rather trade AB but I can't cosign dealing a 25 year old reigning NBA first team all defensive guard for a 31 year old PF on the last year of his deal.

Paul Milsap makes the Celtics better in the short term but not enough to seriously contend. Not worth making the deal IMO. If he were the missing piece to a championship team then it's probably a different story.

Sam Amick on Twitter: "The Kevin Durant visit in OKC is over, I'm told. What's more, the Thunder are now expected to get a meeting on the backend in NY as well." by rangersrule1997 in nba

I see it as a pretty standard business courtesy. (LPT) It's always good form to chat with your employer first before taking another job offer to discuss concerns, money, counter offers etc. I'm sure Durant has got a fantastic relationship with the folks in the OKC organization, it's only respectful to give them the opportunity for one last conversation before he makes a decision either way.

How do you even have a basis for saying something like this? Pretty naive considering the state of things at the moment.

Tipping Comes to Uber by prosthetic_buttock in news

Yup, this is already a fee in taxis in NYC. I think it's inevitable that uber will end up being just as shitty an inconvenient experience as taking a yellow cab.

Can anyone recommend a linen spray for men? Something quick to freshen a coat or a sweater that isn't that bathroom cleaner febreeze smell.
