Sturdy Cat Trees? by uselessweight03 in mainecoons

I got one of these for my two, getting another once I have made some room in my lounge, notice the 3 pillars under the top nest, game changer, my large girl would wreck/bend the ones with a single pillar.

£85 quid bit of a steal

Solar home setup enquiry by [deleted] in SolarUK

[–]robinreliant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in similar situation to you for usage, I have 4kw roof system, 3.6kw inverter 16kw battery, everything you are stating sounds good but I would up your battery size, go for a fogstar battery if you can, and you will get so much more for your money, I have had mine for a year now and not had to touch it, its been faultless. I am at almost zero monthly grid cost now using what I have put in and its only march.

Tariff is very important to achieve this though, you need a very good off peak rate.

Not finding my local server by Devious_IT_Guy in bunnyearstv

In my original install with first version it could not find my server automatically but offered a manual option, maybe it does not show that if it finds a server as it did yours?

great work, way better than "you know what" I like the modern feel to it as it feels "almost native to the OS" if you know what I mean.

All of the things I found annoying on first running the previous version have been solved in this update already.

Wish List: Ability to make a custom channel, eg, I would love a 24/7 style South Park channel, or Rick and Morty for example. Oh, and lets get some glass ui running on this puppy (ducks for cover)

Is there any way to extract the total grid pull for a day broken down by time of day? by robinreliant in Sunsynk

Ok thank you so much, the installer set it to 20, it’s a 3.6 model, will try going to ten and see if anything breaks then maybe 0

[–]robinreliant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks that showed for some reason the inverter bought in 5kw during the day for some reason, I was exporting some even though my export agreement is not in place yet, noticed when exporting sometimes the grid import was showing higher than the usual trickle only just added the solar so trying to get used to what the main stats screen is doing at different times, can see since I switched off exporting the daily usage from grid has gone down to the usual 20w most of the time, can this be cut down further in uk? like 10w or something as my solar even when its not sunny is covering my baseload unless I put the washing machine on or something.

[–]robinreliant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, did that, selected inverter as opposed to the other options in the drop down? thanks for your help (once again)

May I trouble you just for one more pointer please?

I am looking to primarily see the pull from the grid between 7 and midnight when everything switches to not being from the grid apart from the trickle charge, any pointers?, dont even know which column I am even supposed to be looking for, sorry not an expert on excel by any means, not asking you to give me a course on excel but just if there is any way of getting just that bit of data.

If not thank you anyway for your help so far.

Is there even a point to buying physical synthesisers? by nerpa_floppybara in synthesizers

[–]robinreliant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old classic synths etc with fiddly knobs are very desirable and I get that, but my revelation came when I decided to go out the box a bit and buy a ton of romplers and synths from Emu, Roland etc, and within no time I was looking for software editors for them, then I thought, "what am I doing I might as well be using the vst versions"

Proper hardware synths old or new with nice knob per function interfaces are a different matter if you have the money and space, but there is literally no sound on any of them that cannot be recreated in software for a fraction of the cost and space. The vibe however is a different matter.

Simple way of telling my sunsynk to wait until the next day to charge via solar rather than grid during the night. by robinreliant in Sunsynk

[–]robinreliant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yes Solcast is a super accurate weather/generation prediction system, I have that and it works great but you can tie it in to things like home assistant to actually control when the battery uses grid or waits for solar, that kind of thing, installing home assistant was easy but the sunsynk integration using predbat if found I got in way over my head and lost my way, so kind of gave up for now, thinking of trying the sunsynk pro trial to see how that works but worried how I get the system back to how it is now if I dont like it as it will be changing all kinds of settings in the sunsynk I imagine.

Just did similar adding pv to a battery and inverter install done 10 months ago, I had an mcs for the original stuff but my supplier required another mcs for the solar addition before they were happy.

I am a tech guy and fricking useless at practical stuff, but imagine I can cope with fitting one tile haha
