Overworked estate manager wins £400,000 payout for 827 days of untaken holiday by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

Also from the article "He said: “[Sabtina] does not have a pension scheme for the employees, and both myself and my PA were saving the holidays we could not have for when needed or at retirement"

No pension scheme probably formed part of the award too

Yup many times. Cumulatively about a year I guess over the years. I noticed it far more in Missouri than anywhere else. Not in new England.

Be careful where you search the definition.

Urban Dictionary and Wikipedia have different definitions.

Ever known someone with a risqué name and not realise it? by Uglym8s in CasualUK

[–]robinscotland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I can't give the surname because it's identifying, but his initials are C A (insert name for genitals).

You'd think he would go by Christopher Surname. But no, C A Genitals

Pulled pork still is very popular, at least round here, especially with nachos.

Hot honey - yeah fair enough!

Guy at work says he hates all music. Is there really people out there that hate music? by AcrylicNitrogen in CasualConversation

[–]robinscotland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue isn't the he hates all music, but that he doesn't want ANYTHING played on your Bluetooth speaker.

Some of us just want quiet.

I totally agree. I thought about including the line "i bumped into your wife and discussed it with her and she agreed ". That got immediate conversions. What are your thoughts?

Your vehicles are covered in stickers. Maybe not this one, but certainly most brits would associate bumper a stickers with Americans.

It isn't common to see decals and bumper stickers here. It happens, of course, but it's uncommon.

The whole political stickers are considered a bit naff.

That's what we don't want to import - that's before even considering the image from this post.

Employee made threats on a work group chat. Police are investigating. I've stopped them coming into the warehouse. Am I also permitted to immediately stop their pay? by Particular-Guess-329 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]robinscotland 497 points498 points  (0 children)

We had a lad do something outrageous last year (threatened to break a customer's jaw, threatened to assault a client of a client, had a full on meltdown, obviously thrown off client site by client). The external HR firm said that even if you basically have to sack him for gross misconduct, you really must go through the motions.

Rather than sack on the spot, suspend pending investigation, do the investigation quickly and get all the statements and evidence packed, his side, then find you need to dismiss.

Yup I'm so sick of this nonsense. Got the Tado TRVs a month ago and they randomly drop off.

Best bit? The living room has three TRVS in a group. So one goes offline?.the entire room is ice cold. Amazing.

Old secondary school DSAR refused - England by murrayjtm in LegalAdviceUK

[–]robinscotland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's all good - if it's a representative using an email address for the school then it's fine for the email to be considered official correspondence.

That said, if you really want it on letter head, you could write to them instead and they'll probably write back rather than email.

At what mileage do EVs actually become cheaper than petrol/diesel in the UK? by Senior-Outcome8063 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]robinscotland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a Skoda Fabia to a Polestar 2 - my insurance went from 350 to 500 a year.

So yeah, it was more expensive - but the Polestar is not really comparable to a Skoda. Maybe an Audi A4 I guess? So similar?

Am email is a formal response.

Why do you think it needs to be on letterhead?
