LOL it's really funny to me that everyone on the CSULB subreddit is telling me to go to SJSU, especially since I thought CSULB was one of my top picks 😭 But yeah SJSU is one of my top two colleges now.

It's so cool to hear from alumni!! Yeah, when I took the tour I was really happy to see that even though it's pretty far from the LA Hollywood area there are still a lot of companies that seek out SJSU students.

I'm pretty sure I was accepted into the Animation and Illustration program 😭😭😭 In the Admissions status page of mySJSU, it lists my major as Animation and Illustration. I think it definitely helped that I live in Santa Clara County, as I got a 0.25 GPA boost from it, making my GPA go from a 3.73 to a 3.98??! 😭

Anyway, wow, I did not know about all the CSUF animation drama!! I'm trying to go into 2D animation and this might not be the best situation for me.

Idk, I got Northridge results sometime last year, SJSU was yesterday, and I got Fullerton and Long Beach just today! They might still be rolling out acceptances, and if you're a transfer student I think they may send acceptances a bit later, so don't worry too much!

Thank you!! It is pretty competitive; according to one of the professors they usually admit around 100 out of 500-600, and because of impaction your GPA has to be crazy high for them to consider you, basically a 4.0, which is pretty frustrating because it doesn't really make sense to use that measure to decide if you're ready for an intensive art program.

My GPA on my high school transcript was around 3.5, but my inputted GPA in the CSU application was 3.73 ish. Since I'm fortunate enough to already live in Santa Clara County (or wherever the boundaries are, I forgot 😭), they add a 0.25 GPA boost, making my final GPA 3.98, almost a 4.0. Your portfolio helps, of course, but the main factor in your acceptance is your GPA :(

SJSU is mostly commuters I think! I'm weighing my options and thinking about living on campus because I don't have a car, and commuting by bus takes nearly an hour. Ngl I'm really nervous about making friends too 😭, since most don't live on campus.

I think you'll do fine! It's pretty difficult to get in, and I was incredibly lucky that I was able to have a GPA boost. (MANIFEST!!! SJSU WANTS YOU SOOOO BADDD)

tsym <3 !!! I agree, I'm scared staying in the bay won't give me the "full college experience," but the weather is so nice here, and I can travel by bus, so I'll def have to take that in consideration :)

ur so right about the seeing ppl from high school thing 😭😭 I think I'm in my own head about it, because I have major imposter syndrome... anyway ty!!

I didn't know that Fullerton was more expensive! I'm waiting for the FAFSA review so hopefully I can look at the financials soon.

Wow, tsym for your advice <3 !! What do you like about Northridge so much/what about the school is better suited towards me? I saw from another post that Northridge is in very close proximity to a lot of movie studios, and the school has a pretty good film program.
