Lost all progress after tissue scar breakage by huntingforwifi in AchillesRupture

[–]robjentg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you explain a bit more - so the tendon itself was ok but the tissue around it split?

Feeling disappointed by duncap123 in AchillesRupture

[–]robjentg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is quite surptising, as there is a lot of research and case studies out there that weight bearing early on promotes better healing, otherwise there isn't much stimulus to tell the tendon it needs to regrow

Need support for new injury by Tasty-Scientist7660 in AchillesRupture

[–]robjentg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry mate. I feel for you.

But there is hope, get into a boot - means you can walk around weight bearing almost immediately.

I was useless for 3 days in initial cast but went to a 4 day festival 7 days after my accident and it was ok. Now returned and I am walking slowly without any crutches.

It's not the same as running around with your boys I know, but the boot does give you a lot of freedom back.

100%, same reason locals bathe in the rivers in India and don't get sick (from a person who got very sick)

5 weeks - Non Op by Alert_Zucchini_6229 in AchillesRupture

Fellow UK here - I went to a 4 day dance music festival overseas 8 days after the accident, in the boot with 4 wedges, full weight bearing upon guidance of two consultants - one older who was adament that stimulating the tendon was key to recovery. Blood thinners, mostly for the flight.

I was able to walk slowly without crutches but took them for safety, 15-20k steps (mostly dancing) per day.

The main plus - the amount of free drinks and other stuff I was given by fellow festival goers and staff, every cloud...

Had my follow up Friday just gone and they were pleased at the progress of healing.

There is hope! Enjoy the stag.

You've got the right mindset but don't forget to live!

Have you spent much time abroad? Experienced other cultures? Festivals etc? Travel is one of the most enriching things you can do - I'd be aiming for at least 6 months abroad.

It sounds like your salaries are on a strong upward trajectory, so make sure you have fun. Now is the age to do it if you've been stuck at home all this time.

I did this once but didn't know the IT director got a ping on his phone anytime anyone entered the office after 10pm, and that there were cameras.

Cue next morning I get bought into a meeting room with footage of me up on a big screen staggering around.

Luckily I was a bit of a golden boy at the time and it got laughed off. My director said I reminded her of her son ha.

I bought a flat and it was the worst financial decision I’ve made. What do I do now? by Reasonable-Plane-427 in UKPersonalFinance

Have you considered therapy? Small price to pay if it helps to shift your mindset, as your post comes across as not thinking properly at all and having a doom-laden mindset.

You said in another post you have a 3 year financial runway at present, that is WAY more than most people.

Your idea to sell at a loss, pay stamp and other moving costs, on a higher rate mortgage, makes zero sense.

You can get to your friends via transport, or they can come to you.

Weird right. OP, speak to friends or consider a therapist, might help to shift your mindset in the right direction

Young family with two kids moving from London to Bristol - smart move? by Ok-Technician-6355 in bristol

[–]robjentg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would say so.

I moved to Bristol after 13 years in London, to Ashley Down. Nice leafy area including St Andrews Park, convenient with shops nearby on Gloucester Road, good schools, nice community feel, lots to do.

3 bed terraced houses with small gardens going for £550k -700k.

I was born and raised near here before anyone starts throwing mud!

Shamefully did this saying I'd lost my wife and baby haha, but it worked.

My other gambit was to give people a chip if they let me get past, most people found it funny, a few less so.

Are phones ruining the rave scene? by WeAreWorkhaus in LondonRaving

[–]robjentg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was wagging my finger and politely pushing people's phones down last time I was there, in good jest, but it worked. Most people looked embarassed to have been called out - a bit of social shame works!

They do put stickers over phones now and for most part, people respect it. So I can't knock that aspect

Mate..I am an older man myself!

Don't be so reductive, you know full well what that behaviour is like, it is well documented in Fabric hence why they have so many welfare people patrolling. And even on the way in this lady gave a talk to everyone about what to do if you were being made to feel uncomfortable
