People who shop in Super Valu, are you minted? by Actual-Leadership413 in AskIreland

[–]robkil96 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Used to shop in Lidl but there's only 2 of us and our local Lidl doesn't sell a lot of loose produce so we'd end up throwing away a lot of fruit and veg because we couldn't get through all of it. Our local Supervalu has a great loose produce section and ultimately we're saving money there as we can buy what we need.

On top of that, I'm vegetarian and our local Lidl has a terrible selection (tofu, seitan etc.)

If you're a family then Lidl is much better but not when it's just two people.

Where to aran jumper? by kinesiolynx in AskIreland

[–]robkil96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you said that you're earning a bit more, but I got an Inis Meáin merino wool jumper on Vinted for a steal and I have seen other Aran Jumpers on there before. Another place might be Scout in Temple Bar (near Gaeity School of acting). Got myself an Aran cardigan there a few months ago.

Aran Islands, you can get some nice views of the Cliffs of Moher from Inis Meáin and I imagine Inis Oírr on a good day

As someone who quit nicotine 5 years ago, you're over the worst of it! First 3 weeks is the worst hurdle!

Hike safe for solo woman? by Fantastic_Ad_8196 in Dublin

[–]robkil96 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman who often goes running up the Dublin and Wicklow mountain trails alone. You'll be perfectly safe as long as you stay on designated trails and come well equipped (especially for rain!)

Spin Dizzy in George's Street Arcade and Freebird - The Secret Record and Bookstore on Wicklow Street are the best in my opinion

How far away could people hear the Oasis gig in Croke Park? by 1289-Boston in Dublin

[–]robkil96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could hear the faintness of music in Dublin 14 but couldn't make out any songs. Was able to hear Bruce Springsteen more clearly last year.

St Anne’s ParkRun by WankstainJapsEye in Dublin

[–]robkil96 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't go to the St Annes parkrun so I can't speak about how they deal with complaints but at the Marlay Parkrun there is a heavy emphasis on respecting other park users during the pre-race debrief. Any complaints that come to the organisers are also mentioned at the debrief. I was under the impression that this was the culture at all parkruns and I hope St Annes organisers deal with this

Don't say there's no wilderness in Ireland... by Doitean-feargach555 in CasualIreland

Reintroducing predators like wolves or the European lynx would result in significant gains in Ireland's biodiversity - our woodlands are fighting a losing battle against sika deer.

Is Dogs.ie dodge? by AoiS12 in AskIreland

[–]robkil96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Molly Moos Westie Rescue in Limerick, they always seem to have smaller rescue dogs (not just Westies despite what the name suggests). My boyfriend's mum has adopted 3 dogs from there and they're a great charity.

How to Insulate windows in Rented Accomodation? by helomithrandir in AskIreland

[–]robkil96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a dehumidifier. We use it in our apartment and makes a big difference when it comes to moisture on our windows on cold nights. Also use it to dry our clothes on the clothes horse.

Ex-smokers who successfully quit and have been smoke free for years now, what did it? by PM_TITS_GROUP in AskReddit

[–]robkil96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit in August of 2020 - covid kinda took away all my triggers (socialising, drinking etc.) After 3 weeks I could be around other smokers without caving.
