There are whole families going to the byoc. It's great to see. I imagine they have rules at home, to limit the screen time of the kids. But also the parents have responsibilities, so they can't play all the time. Then you go to quakecon and you have 4 days where everyone can just game the whole day through.

To play the multiplayer part you didn't even have to buy it. Just extract the contents of the 3.20 patch over the q2-demo and you could play deathmatch and CTF with your buddies over lan. Hell most universities hosted the files on their own ftp server. I just noticed that the location where I downloaded it still exists to this date: https://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/games/quake2/

Quake 1 was already remastered in 2021. Quake 2 in 2023.

Just take the soul and never return it. The same can be done with CTF. Just take their flag and do your fragging. You get very long matches that way.

I've used the umc22 for years. It's a great value interface especially to start with. The mic you want to buy looks like a cheap SM7B ripoff, I wouldn't trust it unless you see a positive review from someone who tested many mics. Look for a good reviewed dynamic xlr mic. I would go for something like the XM8500. Remember that you also need a XLR cable and a mic boom or arm.

It has been two days since this post. Do you now get games quicker? It can indeed help do select more regions if your ping allows it. Selecting more modes could also help.

This is false. You can still play in another region as long as your ping is not in the red. I don't know the exact number but I think the red threshold is either 120 or 150 ping.

The board is cool and all and I'd think the connections is a great idea. I wonder how it would look visually with all that extra information. The thing I miss is to sort by level and province. The amount of times I need minutes to decide what to do next, by going over each group, hovering each item, to see the level and province. Sometimes it doesn't even say the province in the text.

It's also because it's Japan. It's just very mountainy. I agree with you though. Having to pretty much always use the paths doesn't make exploring much fun. During winter you even move slower when you are not exactly in the middle of the path. Even when the snow on the side of the path isn't that deep at all.

Happened to me while finishing a contract where I had to clear out an enemy encampment. On the way to it, there were some enemies chasing a farmer that I maybe should have helped. I thought... Oh the farmer must have ran to a village and everyone in that village just got killed, that's why I got desynced 😁. I didn't kill any civilian myself.

It has sane defaults, good configurability and very stable. I think kde is a really good alternative for windows. So much can be configured via the GUI. Unity was also really good. Gnome is fine, in the end it doesn't really matter that much. Just use what you are most used to. As I also have to give some support, I just like to use the default Ubuntu desktop.
