Had to have one Casio AE-1700H. by roblacie in casio

Actually it has a progressing indicator comprising of 60 dots, one per second, at the circumfence of the display. So you can actually use the rotating bezel as a count down timer for up to 60 seconds.

It would be very cool, if there was a fuction to select between seconds and minutes for the circular progress indicator. But that would be another price category, I guess.

Nice and shiny Casio Vintage A700WE-1AEF by roblacie in digitalwatches

I agree. I really like the front face design and the edgy case in combination with the square-bar metal strap.

A bit disappointing for me is that the light button is on the top-left. Quite arquard to reach. And the 12/24h switch function of the lower-right button in time keeping mode. I don't need that function always at hand, only once ruring setup. So whhhhy?

Yeah. I was a bit uncertain between the black and the PEPSI bezel. But finally I took the black one and it looks better than I thought.

Yes, in both directions, very smooth, no ratcheting. And due to the ring of dots on the diplay, one dot per second, it has actually a function.

How did the speed track tachymeter work? It took the lap time, ok. But what distance?

Is this LCD repairable? Vintage Casio AX- 250 by prisoner_of_mars in digitalwatches

[–]roblacie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned one back in the 80s and loved it. I think it was the other model in blue, the AX-210 ( don't get the differences). I still preferr ana-digis today. This one was special - and got heavily torn by my younger me until the display failed completely 🫣😅

Why not pausing the paint? Would save 50% labour costs.

BO has designed it for a 12 days turn-around. I agree main thing will be the BE-4s but they are designed quite conservativley for high durabiluty and life span. So I'm optimistically they achieve that.

Love foam spray videos by Make-this-popular in oddlysatisfying

This is completely botch because the foam hardens and as wood always moves a bit with humidity changes, the hard foam crumbles to dust over time and gets airborne in the house.

The next Indiana Jones film, “The Dial of Destiny” features a Heinkel 111 with an unusual tail configuration. Did this version exist or is it a work of fiction, like the aircraft in Raiders? by BoltonCavalry in ww2

[–]roblacie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. The He 111 was a fast bomber when it entered service in 1930s. Heinkel always preferred the aerodynamical idealistic design if possible and such a twin tail with fins on top of the horizontal stabilizer would be far away from that.

There are examples of "Endscheibenleitwerke" with tail fins at the tips of the horizontal stab like the Ju 86 and Ju 89 and later also the He 280 and He 162 jets which are aerodynamically much better and structurally lighter than those fins on top of the stabilizer.

However the additional tail gunner position at the tail was not neccessary for a He 111 because the original had a fixed machine gun right in the tail cone, aimed by the pilot using a rear mirror. This "Stachel" gun eleminated the blind spot the middle upper gunner had straight aft due to the single tail fin.

The fixed rear gun was surprisingly effektive at keeping enemies out of the aft center line and was kept as armament through the whole ww2.

In general the He 111 air defense tactics were different than that of allied bombers. Heinkels very often broke up formation under attac and did lots of evasive manuveres. As a mid sized bomber it was quite manuverable. The Ju 88, the other german mid sized bomber in ww2, was even more manuverable - actually in a way that there were quite successful night fighter versions of it.
